Long time Lurker- Thoughts and advice pls :]

Smoker for 7 years 3/4 PAD
vaping halo g6 (torque) for 2 months (zero analogs since)
2mls of 18mg daily

QUESTIONS

-The first few weeks I was coughing up dark mucous, now I cough rarely, but can bring up a white mucous- is this residual from vaping? PG?

-My teeth and mouth feel coated, and wake up with a dry mouth/white tongue. Oddly never suffered this while smoking. I wondered if this was due to dehydration, causing slight thrush, or if directly related to the e-liquid?

-I seem to be able to easily chain vape 18mg juice, I am curious about the amount or nicotine I am really receiving?

Positive changes for those wanting encouragement!

I never felt like I was quitting, or intended to quit. Purchased my e-cig as an impulse buy.
Smell has returned an insane amount, house was painted 3 months ago, but only now can I smell the paint!
Eyes white and clear
Can take deep long breaths without feeling any urge to cough during exhale :)
Definite improvement in mental clarity/reduction in anxiousness

Congrats on quitting!
I smoked cigs for roughly 10 years. I had a gnarly cough for about 3 weeks. Almost sounded like bronchitis. My vape purchase was also an impulse buy with a couple of my friends at the same time. Haven't smoked a stoge in about 2 months. They say dehydration is pretty common with vaping (and cigs..) Drink more water! :)

When I'm not busy I chain vape. If I'm working, I vape about as much as I smoked. Same with cigs sitting around, I would chain smoke 5,10 or even a whole pack if I had several hours to burn. I'm sure someone can chime in about the amount of nicotine. But I started out with 24mg, dropped to 18, now am at 12, and if I am using my dripper, its 6 or less.

Thank you! My habits are very similar. Congrats to you too!
Will be increasing my water intake and hoping for the best.

I have also been analog free for about 2 months and went pretty much head first into the vaping world and I love it!!! It appeals to my techie side as well as my old "smoking" habits so it's a win/win!!

I also had the dehydration part of it and noticed that when I went to a higher VG blend I was losing that dehydration part, since it mostly comes from the PG.

Keep on chuckin'!!!

Congrats on the quit !! .:toast:

Coughing a LOT less is normal, as is being able to breath and smell...(and you thought yours smelled like roses...)

It is important to drink enough water, dehydration is easy ti fix. And the water helps clean out the remnants from smoking.
The 18 mg level is fine if it keeps the cravings away and doesn't give you hiccups, nausea or headaches. Too much nicotine would give you those symptoms.

I've found that Crest Pro Health mouthwash works the best for your mouth and teeth, as always ...YMMV

Don't use any Halo, but the PG/VG ratio may be part of the "coated" phenomenon. I find, for myself, of course, that 50/50 I'll get that with some flavors, higher VG than that, most any flavor.

Congrats! You're doing fine. Took a few months of 24 for me, then stepped down to 18. And probably will stay there as long as the FDA lets me. And then some. :)

Here's on thread on nic absorbtion:

with a link near the last post to another, older and longer one :)

^^Thank goodness for innovative technology :p
My next order I will be looking at different blends, haven't quite wrapped my head around that part of it. ty!

heheheyeah
Have yet to experience any symptoms that might imply too much nicotine, in my first few days I had tight chest and lump in throat feeling but am convinced it was tobacco withdrawal, my 18 mg seems to be serving me well! Ty!

I wonder if it might be a good idea to pull out my crest white strips and see if that improves anything :D
Thanks again!

Thanks! really helpful! I swear I have almost read every thread in this forum since switching lol.

Will be reading up on the ratios, weirdly cannot seem to find any details on the halo site about the PG/VG levels, all it says on the bottle is PG, so I assume that is all I am getting? :/

I smoked for 21 years almost to the day. You describe exactly everything I went through even the feeling of coating inside the mouth and teeth. Unless I'm just used to it, I believe it was mostly due to not drinking enough water as it went away as the day went by.

I too cough up white almost phlegmy stuff once or more a day. I think it's a combination of lungs still cleaning out, but mostly from rehydrating when I wake up in the morning or after being out too long without water with me. We both definitely should drink more water. I also cough up a lung when I brush my teeth in the morning, which I believe has something to do with being dehydrated at night.

Other symptoms include: ...... 3 times more often (because of all the water intake) and waking up to pee (same reason) or to drink (because of the lack of previous reason).

Yep this definitely sits true with me, makes sense. I think it would be pretty silly to not consider dehydration as the main contributor- I am sure I have had these symptoms before when I have been harder on my body and not drinking properly.

Am fairly sure the tongue thing is related to having a drier mouth at this point, but will soon find out -chugs water-

Forgot to mention the most important symptoms: my closets first started smelling like an old attic, then the smells slowly started to become more like freshly washed clothes. My trash can started smelling more and I can tell when my coworker has had a cig even when I have to go to the printer and he's not in the office... OTOH, women smell a lot better all of a sudden!

Ahhhh, I know exactly what you mean! The smells for me were for sure mind=blown
And am convinced I was overdosing everyone with my perfumes all these years too  :D

Feels great to know you can be more confident about how you smell doesn't it? (except when you fart... those got a really nasty smell now!)

Congratulations on quitting!

I smoked for 25 years, and quit quite by accident. I decided while I was vaping, I wouldn't smoke. Been over 3 weeks now, and I haven't smoked again yet!

I got some free juice, a tank, and an eGo charger. I bought a battery, and the shinyitius hit hard! In 3 weeks, I have managed to go from cheap gas-station tanks and a pathetic INNO eGo clone to an MVP2 and an itaste 134 with about $200 worth of good clearo tanks.

Was almost cheaper smoking. :D But, I stopped coughing, and riding my MTB to work doesn't kill me anymore. Barely even need to catch my breath!

BTW, shinyitus does subside after awhile. Did for me, anyway. ;)

Congrats! It is suuuuch a good feeling to not feel convicted to a particular habit :p although I can't imagine being without vaping at this point.

Glad that stamina has come back for you too!

Am looking forward to upgrading and playing around more with flavours and suppliers-I love the hobby aspect of vaping too.
ty!!! :)
