OK, so I am pretty new to vaping, but reading this forum has taught me a lot of it is not rocket surgery. I watched a few of the youtube vids on cleaning CE5 clearos. In just about all of them, they only remove the tip and then pluck the nipple out through the top, put water in the tank and shale a few times, dry, dry burn, then reassemble.

My two questions:

1. Is it bad to do what I did, which was after draining remaining fluid, I went ahead and also just unscrew the base, and then also removed the atty and simply rinsed everything in my sink, which made it easier to get everything dried up for my dry burns.

2. Not really related to the cleaning, but this was the first time I've seen the inside of the atty with the nipple off, and thus revealing the wick underneath it... Both of the clearos I cleaned, the wick looked like it was simply a single thread of string across the opening. I guess I excepted it to look like the rest of the wick on the sides, but is it suppose to be just that thin little string? I could not find a decent image of these CE5 attys with the nipple off, revealing the wick in the middle.

#2 I've likely answered myself as, after letting the refilled juice settle in, I am vaping again and it tastes perfectly fine, if not a little better from the recent cleaning.

Thanks in advance, loving this forum and the wealth of knowledge.

Same here. I usually also take off the burner, after removing the rubber nipple, being careful to not damage the wick. If you don't have the patience to dry overnight, (or for some obscure reason don't have a second clearo!) dry burning to get the water out is an option, although a couple of minutes with a hair dryer would also dry it out quickly.

I had 4 clearos, but the posts kept coming out of the bottom, and I have yet to find a way to fix those, but since I found the bases for only a couple bucks a piece, I figured I would just buy some new ones. So down to 2 clearos, and one more additional tube needing the base. I also have 2 metal Kanger T3's on my way, looking forward to trying those.
