2 Weeks in with my 401

Hey
So I've been vaping for around 2 weeks now with my M401
I haven't had any problems with it so far and everything seems to be going well. I take good care of my atty and batt. But as of late, my atty just doesn't seem to be producing like it has and I want to get back running full power. Wondering if a good soak would do the trick. I've dry burned a few times to see if the would fix the problem and blow out the excess PG but it still doesn't seem to hit like it did. Would a good soak take care of this or is it time to hit up a new atty? (also, the carts I've been using aren't the best but they're 18 mg's and last around 200 hits, could this be a problem as well? should I buy some new carts?)

Thanks,
Erik

WOW! You are getting 200 hits on ONE cartridge??? That is phenomenal to say the least...
I have a 401 and love it but I have not managed to get 200 hits on ONE cartridge!!
I would say, you may be able to get some better performance out of the atty w/ a good few minutes rinse and dry then also - Have you changed the filler material in your carts yet? or are you still refilling and using with the same old filler? OR are you only using pre-filled carts?
If you haven't changed your filler I would - or at least wash it out if you have never done that...
I am trying a couple soaks that are posted on 2 seperate atty's...
One is with Crest MouthWash Pro and the other is club soda- I will get results by tomorrow- we'll see-
I have been using mine for 3 weeks- the only reason cleaning one is because it dropped and I had to get it revived... it works but not fully now- so see if a soak will help it out... Theother is my husbands from his Sidesho is getting a very light pull and he has had 3 weeks as well- he vapes much more often than I do... My other atty I just blow out and change filler when needed in cart and still using strong...

Again, explain to us the hits you are getting.. What type of liquid do you use?

*Atomizers are a consumable and should be replaced about every 20 or so cartridges *

Yea.....NO. 20 carts would be once every week or less - M4XX attys are beemers and can last for months

and $13bucks for a M4xx attny is highway robbery on this forum. You can get them at Litecig or MyfreedomSmokes for about $7.

generic M4xx carts are good for about 1-3 cigs worth, Evo carts are good for about 3-4 cigs worth at 10-15puffs/cig equivalent before topping off. They are both refillable. Visit "model specific" under Electronic Cigarette reviews for tips and tricks.

Hope this helps!

Two weeks for one person is not the same as two weeks for another.
It depends more on how much juice you've gone through with that atomizer.

Two weeks is decent if you are chain-vaping.
Not good at all if you are not.

It is said that a dry burn is not necessarily a good idea for a well used atomizer.
Some say it must be done on a regular basis, and only when starting a new atomizer.

I would say cleaning it could help.
There are tons of ways of doing so that you can read about.

I soak mine in Diet Coke for a few hours.
I put in fresh Coke every 30 minutes, until I use up the can.
Then I soak in water overnight and let dry for at least 24 hours.

You can dry it in only 20 minutes if you put it in the oven at 150 degrees.

It is now being said that a 15 minute bath in Crest Pro Health is the best cleaning method.
Check the following thread for more information on that: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo.../35917-sattecs-atty-cleaning-test-thread.html

Thanks for all of your input! I use both pre-filled carts along with carts I fill myself. I used to be a pack a day smoker but I usually go through about 1 cart a day or every 2 days. It makes me nervous to soak the atty for some reason but I think I will try some basic soaks with club soda. Although, I wonder about the Crest mouthwash. I haven't cleaned the filler material yet but then again my I always use new filler material. I don't vape constantly but I must say I do it quite frequently, if I had to throw a number on it I would estimate 100ish puffs a day so a cart will usually empty after a day or two. If I did a club soda soak or diet coke soak, how long should I wait to use the atty again?

and regarding the hits, I do not know the name of the liquid off the top of my head but the first week or so I had it I was getting really decent hits and if I covered one of the holes on my 401 I could blow HUGE milky hits but the last 2 days it has declined a little more each day but I think it needs a good soak because I haven't given it one yet.
and regarding my last post, I've read after a diet coke soak drop it in rubbing alcohol for a minute because it pushed out all the coke off the atty and it evaporates very fast while drying. Any more ideas?

Thanks
-Erik

If you only have one atomizer then this is your best bet in my opinion...

After soaking in Coke, rinse very well with hot water for as long as you can stand it.
Then blow out as much water as you can, and put in the oven for 20 minutes at 150 degrees.

If you have more than one atomizer, then do what I said in the original post above.
:)

And no matter what else you decide to do, always make sure you have at least two atomizers.

That sounds like it might work, but I haven't tried it.

The trick is to make sure the atomizer is dry.
If it is not dry then it will not work and you'll think you broke it.

OH WAIT!! You said RUBBING ALCOHOL.
I am pretty sure that is a bad idea.

The usual suggestion is to use everclear if you can get it.
or at least 80-proof vodka if you can't.

Okay great, thanks DC2. So I will NOT use rubbing alcohol lol but I do only have one atty so I will do the diet coke soak like you suggested. Now I also have a tap that pushes water at boiling temperature, would it be a good idea after the coke soak to drop it in a small glass of boiling water and the do the rest of the things you said or just rinse out with hot water?

I've heard rubber gaskets don't like to be boiled. If you look on the inside bottom of your atom, you'll see the little black gasket around the bottom of the post that butts up to the battery - I think it helps seal the airflow.

Glad to hear you're getting 100 hits to a cart - that's excellent! Are you using a straw mod? They work great on the 401. You can add a little VG to your juice to get more clouds. A neat trick is to shake your liquid up just a little before you refill, as the contents can subtly separate, so shaking mixes them back up again and keeps the flavor consistent from top to bottom of the bottle.

Congratulations on becoming a non-smoker!! Well done!!
