20 posts to become verified....dumb rule. Just is.

I'm new here and I've been reading and learning a lot. Been vaping for about a year. I don't really have a lot to say, that hasn't already been said on these forums. If you're smart enough to search there are answers to pretty much any e-cig question, tons of reviews, etc.

So why do I need 20 posts to be verified? Makes no sense. I can blab about nonsense and clutter up the board, but my worthiness to deal with the classifieds certainly can't be determined by how much I post. You can of course see I'm paypal verified, or perhaps my eBay rating...which is excellent.

I will go through the routine if that's how it has to be, just doesn't seem necessary.

I disagree. It is not a dumb rule, it has become a necessary rule and the moderators put it in place for very good reasons. Since you indicate that you're smart enough to search the forum I'm sure you'll be able to discover those reasons on your own. While I wouldn't recommend joining such a helpful community and immediately insulting the rules I am glad you're here and wish you great luck in your vaping journey!

If you are reading and learning a lot then surely you have learned the reason for Verification and the procedure to get there.

And actually spamming for your post count can indeed affect your worthiness to use the classifieds.

Relax...enjoy the Forum...Verification is not an instant process anyway...can take a couple of days.

So, what does it tell you about me if I post 20 times? Aren't the other restrictions to become verified good enough? This encourages people to post just for the sake of posting, no? I don't want to be a nuisance when I have nothing to say really - I just want to participate in the classifieds.

Not trying to be a troublemaker here - thanks for the great forum!

Yep OP wouldn't feel the same if he/ she had gotten stiffed for $200.00 pre verification days.

You miss the entire point and goal of a forum. It's much more than finding answers anonymously- posting info and asking questions helps us all.

No offense but you're really missing out on the best of this forum and that's the people who frequent this board. I've gotten so much help/advice just from the people that more than make up for anything I can get from the classifieds.

2 members here sent me free juice simply because I was running out and didn't have funds at the time. I didn't ask for it, they took it upon themselves to help me out in my time of need. Simply because I participated in the forum as a whole.

Just saying if you only want to participate in the classifieds that you'll be missing out.

Getting off my soapbox now.

Honestly though, and I'm not on either side of this ( I can see both sides of the "argument" ) someone can get on here, post 20 times in 2 minutes, get verified through eBay or w/e ( and let's keep in mind, maybe this person needs some quick cash? ) posts that they have some "rare PV"? And then cries that they don't have a PayPal account so they need to be paid by money order or etc. .... We all know, if it's a " sought after enough " item, someone would send a MO...

I'm pretty new to the site, got verified through netidme ( I don't have a Paypal account , I use a similar card that was offered to me by my work for direct deposit ) and have now a couple things on here just recently... I just sold a highly "wanted" hologram SB and people didn't even question the fact that I didn't have PP .... I even had a guy offer more than I asked and offered to send me a MO if I cut off negotiations with the 1st guy that PM'd me! ( but I'm not like that, and got what I was asking from the 1st guy anyways )

My point is, and I feel like I'm rambling ( kinda preoccupied ) , but what does having "made" 20 posts have anything to say about said persons integrity? If I have "27" posts, am I "more believable" than someone that has made 13 posts?

I had trouble with this at first too. I'd been a member on ECF for almost 2 years and kept a pretty low post count. I didn't know about co-ops and classifieds until about a month ago. I didn't have a lot to say and came here mostly for the wonderful advice, tips, and tricks that already existed. Yes, I know a forum is about community, but not everyone wants that.

I do however think the verification for sales is necessary. I've been scammed on forum classifieds before and requiring someone to be at least somewhat active is a totally understandable requirement.

It's not hard, go into the threads you normally just creep in and post something.

In my online life I always look at join date, then post count. Tells alot about a poster, but I don't think a time requirement is the perfect solution either.

Or you can start an inflammatory and contraversial post about rules being "stupid" so you get a bunch of arguments in return and drum up 20 posts that way.. Which also doesnt help peoples perspective of you! ;)

I thought it was strange as well, but rules are rules and it is usually there for a reason.. So I just went with it. Of course I am lucky enough to live somewhere with a pretty large Vaping community locally...
