I started using ecigs about a year ago but found it difficult to completely give up on the cancer sticks completely although i was down from 20-25 a day to 8.
I was stuck in this rut for months on end where i needed an analogue before and after a meal but after tea i could last all night without needing a ciggy.
When i was smoking 20+ a day i never smoked in the house as the smell of smoke that lingers made me feel sick which seems stupid in it self as i was smoking that as well.

About a week ago my next door neighbour's relatives came to stay and they are both heavy smokers i think they must smoke at least 40 a day each.
The bedroom that they were stopping in is right next to mine and whether its a problem in the structure of the wall but their smoke somehow creeps into my room it could even be coming through the bathroom.

So for the past week i was being woken up by this rank stench of cheap tobacco smoke which would turn my stomach and yesterday i just thought enough is enough i cant go around smelling like that so i just stuck to my 510 all day.

I was a bit twitchy once in a while but i just kept remembering that ash tray smoky smell and it soon passed.

While it has taken a year for me to completely cut out the ciggys i did get there in the end.

Ive also ammassed lots of spare batteries and attys so im prepared for any emergency i just wish that i could stay using the ecig but the way the law is going in the UK i looks like im going to have to stockpile and then slowly ween myself down to no nic.

Congrats Krull! I must say that the transition to no tobacco was not an easy thing for me even with my PV. I made it though and it is much better now! Every once in a while I still want one of those ciggies that look so good but taste so bad. Keep at it... just try to make it through each withdrawal period and only concentrate on that one. It helps me to come here and read the posts and also to think "well maybe the next fit I will have an actual ciggy" just to get through the current one okay lol.

Its now almost 2 weeks ive been analogue free now. I went out side in the back garden for a walk and the next door neighbour was smoking and the smell was so manky i had to go back inside. I cant believe i used to stink like that for the best part of 16 years.

Ive stocked up on supplies aswell so ive no fear of having to go cold turkey just yet.

Congrats!
Like Domino said keep some 36 or 24 around to get through the rough patches.
I use the 36 in the morning to keep me from wanting the morning one, then I switch to about 11mg or so to vape all day then 36 again at dinner and bed time, or if I really really want a cig.

I started vaping in March 09 but am only smoke free for the last 14 days. I had bad batteries , bad carts and general mayhem for the first few months. Very frustrating. I finally am hooked up with what makes me happy.

Hang tough and you will make it...

When I would get the "craves", I would eat some "Jolly Rancher" candies. Cheery and Watermelon is a great mixed together.

It was hard. But at least I got thru the first 10 days and after that it does get better.

I did gain 10 pounds, got 3 cavities and am now borderline diabetic. But at least I haven't had an analog in 4 weeks. ;)

Some day maybe they will do a study to find out what is the difference between those who found it harder to quit, and those who quit immediately and never even wanted another cigarette.

In the meantime, congratulations!!
:thumb:

And not just to you, but to all those who make it!
And also to those who are still working on it but just making slower progress!!

Wow i was checking through my posts and i cant believe its been a whole year since i smoked a ciggy. Vaping is just second nature for me now and i got a good vaping routine going. I vape TW banana in my dibley 510 through the day and ECIS/Genesis Red Bull at night in my SD MK2. I think after 2 weeks the need for a real cig passed and the thought of lighting one and smoking it feels completely alien to me now.

Ive also noticed vast health improvements i distinctly remember after a month or 2 it felt as though i had an extra lung my chest had loosened so much.

I occasionally dream that i still smoke which is wierd but apart from that everything is cool.

I thought it was worth ressurecting this dead thread incase anyone new reading it who is in the process of going smoke free would find it usefull.
