I've been thinking about it, and I think I'm gonna tear mine apart and see if I can improve on the design.
Plus I remembered I had some FatDaddy bottom feed 510 connectors and I'm pretty sure I can make an aluminum top plate to replace the stock one. We have plenty of aluminum stock at work and everything I need to make it, tool wise. The stock one looks like chromed plastic to me.
Thinking of trying to go with brass all-thread instead of just replacing the ground wire, ala Peko style.
I'll just have to see once I pop the top off, at $25 it's definately worth trying some stuff out.
I really like the size, the bottle volume and fact that it comes with an atty, just a few quirks to work out.
I like the way it feels in my hand better than the Peko, and it's more stable just sitting on a table. The Peko is sort of top heavy.
I like my Reo Grand, even though I bought it well used. I recently sent it in for a new style 510 and to be cut down to a low profile. I had stripped the paint off by hand with scotchbrite before I sent it in and Rob was nice enough to give it a tumbled raw finish, all the internal parts, and it looks like he ran it through the CNC and removed all the nicks it had, all at no cost and without me even asking him to do anything other than cut it down and replace the 510 with the new adjustable one.
The only problem with all of that is now I'm nervous about taking it out of the house, it looks so good I don't want to nick it or scuff it up.
