I am, thats who!

I started smoking at a young age, right around 13, both of my parents smoked heavily and cigs were relatively easy to come by. I can remember having that first cig and thinking this was very natural thing for me to do, everyone I knew smoked.

Fast forward to boot camp on '00 and I had to quit for 2 months and immediately after I picked them right back up. I also acquired quite the taste for booze during this time, the two went well together.

Very shortly I will celebrate 8 years sobriety after a series of self testing and discovering I have an allergic reaction to booze.

That brings us to about 30 days ago, my father in law, who I look to as a father figure, quit smoking the day my wife and I put in application to adopt an infant. Five short days later my wife and I elected to do the same as to show respect to a man who quit smoking after a 2 PAD for 30 years. I picked up a disposable and barely got by, the nic demon was clawing at my back.

I visited a local brick and mortar and got my first APV gear and I was finally satisfied. Thank you ECF and its members, this vaping experience has been a life saver for me.

:)

I vaped for 2 years while still holding on to a few cigs with coffee and after meals. For 2 years, I could have quit those last few and didn't. I didn't realize that holding on to them while vaping was just me fearing the cold turkey cravings. A year ago I dropped those last 6 or 8 a day and found out that vaping cures the nic demon with no repercussions.

Sail on, nicnut. You are moving in the right direction. BTW, Welcome to ECF!

the best allergy a person can have. i know about allergies. but that kind of talk isn't allowed. but i always enjoy when another person is snatched from the clutches of the things we are "allergic" to. this site is a great way to share the journey, and pay it forward. every post carries the key to another persons problem with making the switch.
