280 mAh battery, some cartos don't work?

So, I've been vaping for a little over a month now and have not had any problems. I got my friend into vaping too.

Today I gave her a few cartos to tide her over till she orders her own. They're both Boge SR.

I had given her one before, a Kanger Horizontal Coil LR, and it worked perfectly.

These boge SR's don't produce any vapor. The light on the end of her 510 auto battery lights up, but... Nothing. No vapor.

I tried the cartos on my Ego 650, and my Ego Twist, and they work fine for me.

Any idea what the problem is? I'm stumped!

A SR carto is a bit high resistance, about 3ohms, for a little 510 battery, but they should produce some vapor. It could just be that the 510 battery is getting old and not providing enough voltage for a SR carto. If you have access to a multimeter, you could check the voltage. My guess would be that the battery isn't putting out a full 3.7 volts.

The other possibility is that it isn't making contact between the center post of the battery and the center post of the cartomizer. You can use a paperclip to pull the post out a little bit and that'll make better contact.

Thinking about it, I'll bet the problem is with the center posts. Use a toothpick or paperclip or something to gently pry around the edged of the little post in the center of the battery connection. Gently lift it up a little bit, about 1/64" is all you need.

The center posts of cartomizers vary in length. One carto can have a longer post and can mash the center post of your battery down so that the post of the next cartomizer you try can't reach it. You can either pull the post out on the cartomizer, or pull the post out on the battery, or both.

It occurs to me it was *not* a good idea to run the Kanger Low Resistance Carto on 280 mAh batteries; I'm hoping this did not damage the batteries. If you have a meter it might not be a bad idea to test them.

I don't have the chart handy (and have some doubts about the one I've seen but would tend to err on the side of caution). As a general rule though I wouldn't run a LR atty or carto (below 2.5 Ohms) on a battery with less than 450 mAh current capacity.

Best of luck & Happy Vaping! :vapor:

With a 280mah, I'd go with a 2ohm or 2.5ohm carto.
A 2ohm carto would cut the life some, but not drastically. I don't believe it would be dangerous or kill the battery instantly. That would give you 6.8 watts, which is a decent vape.
2.5ohms would give you 5.5 watts, which is o.k., but not great. It's better for lighter flavors, fruit and such.
What is the resistance of the atomizer that came with the tank?

You are running into the major drawback of small batteries and why they just can't perform like the bigger battery PVs.
If you could run 1.7 or 1.5ohm cartos, you'd be getting 8 or 9 watts, which is a very excellent vape.
