Yeah I don't really want to crack 14.5 volts for sure. Right now I'm at 1.7ohms
w/30guage and 4.1-4.3 is tasting really good to me. I was thinking maybe 6-7
28g wraps on a p-wick would maybe put me around 1.2. I'd really like to be
1.2-1.4 around 4v.

Lol. I just ordered 100ft 28guage that's coming monday. I was listening to Rip's
opinion.

I touched on the principals in this post...
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-so-many-pro-zap-combos-sale-post8827065.html

Yes, the ProVari will heat up 28awg wire... It just doesn't do it very well. It takes a lot of power (watts) to bring heavy gauge wire up to temperate quickly. That's why people are using mechanical mods to fire sub 1 ohm coils (3.8 volts & .8 ohm = 4.75 amps & 18.05 watts) the ProVari can't deliver anything close to that.

Thinner gauge wire doesn't need nearly as much power to get to temperature.

I'm not saying this to discourage you from experimenting, I'm just trying to spare you a "..." moment... or at least make it less of a surprise.

Tip 'O The Day... If you want to get the max power out of your ProVari, the combination of a 1.4 ohm coil at 4.6 volts, will actually allow you to "cheat" the 14.5 watt limit of the device.

I'm not having any problems running about a 1.1-1.2 ohm coil from 3.7 to 3.9 volts. I did get the initial errors when the wick was not properly oxidized, but once you go through a tank it runs just fine.

Currently running a zau at 1.1 ohms, vaping at 3.7 volts. And a zap at 1.1-1.2 ohms around 3.8-3.9 volts. This is with a 5 wrap of 28g kanthal.

thats exactly correct. ive got a 6 or 7 wrap of 28g on a genny of mine, for a 1.2ohm coil. fires fine all the way past 4v, but i like it more in the 3.5-3.6v range.

my 28g is working just fine on my provari. granted, if i had done the math regarding the amp limit on the 'vari and whatnot i probably would have gone with 30awg. but i was just hearing so much good talk on the 28awg and a small spool of it (25ft) came across my radar for like five dollars shipped so i just scooped it up.

I'm not saying that it can't be done or that it won't work... I'm saying that resulting vape sucks... At least compared to the same ohm/voltage combo done in 30 or 32 gauge wire.
I have tried both 30g and 32g with this ohm/volt combo and flavor hands down is much better with the 28g on the provari. Vapor, flavor, and throat hit are all great.

That is because you have tried it on mechanical mod and you know the potential of the 28g wire.....so in comparison it sucks. I totally agree with that. I also like 30g better on VV devices. The 28g response times are too slow and the vape is too cool when it is being regulated...but some people prefer that.

if one has been used to 28g wire and low resistances on a mechanical mod then you might be a little disapointed using the 28g on the provari, for you cannot achieve the higher wattage needed to really make the 28g shine. with this being said, the v-2 provari and 28g does work pretty good, and has the best flavor of any other wire gauge. it may be a little slower then the 30g because of its thickness and wraps required, but one shouldnt be discouraged from trying this combination. a really nice vape on the provari with the 28g is 1.1 to 1.4 ohms. on a 1/8 wick a 4/5 wrap equals about 1.1Ω, but this depends on the diameter of your wick. now if you have a really small wick and need to do a 6/7 wrap, this just might be to slow compared to the 30g. the 28g at 1.3ish ohms kind of gives you the most wattage possible on the provari. another set-up i do with the 28g is a 3/4 wrap this comes in on my wicks between 0.8 to .09Ω, although it doesnt produce quite as much wattage as the 1.3 ohm coil, it is however a little quicker. with the 0.8 to 0.9 coils your set-up has to be perfect for the provari to fire it with no error messages, with that being said i used this coil set-up for a long time with no problems before going mechanical. so there is 2 pretty good vapes possible for the provari and 28g, 3/4 wrap@0.8 to0.9Ω and a 4/5 wrap@1.1 to1.3Ω. i do prefer a mechanical mod for 28g and low resistances for sure, but before owning a mechanical mod i preferd the 28g with the provari over the 30g mainly because of the flavor, and i didnt quite mind the slightly slower response time it had compared to the 30g. i got used to depressing the fire button on my mod before bringing it up to vape, this gave the coils just a second or two to fire before vaping. good luck

Ok, awesome. Thanks everyone for the views. I get what all is being said & appreciate
hearing from you all that have been there, done that.

So my solution will be buy a mod and some 30g to play around with. RBA's are kinda fun!

when you say your going to buy a mod, are you saying a mechanical mod? because if you are then the 28g is a must, the 30g is for the provari, which i thought you had already.
