2nd try on e-cig need Advise badly

I had tried the e-cig once when my husband on his own decided to order me the liquid form and all the cartridges. From someone on line, I think e-bay. Anyway , I gave it a shot. I never received directions and was smoking it like a real cigarette. Dragging on it multiple times 7-8 at each time I went for a smoke. I got so sick. I had called the guy and then he advised me that I should only be taking 1 or 2 puffs. per time. That I was overdosing. That was 2 years ago. I am ready to quit and on my own order Fresh Smoke, but even though it came with directions it never does advise how many puffs would equal 1 cigarette. The cartridges are 12mg. If anyone could guide me so that I can successfully do this I would so appreciate it. I really want this to be a success. Thank You

Please go to the top of this page, click on Info Zone and read ALL of the advice for new users. It will answer most if not all of you initial questions concerning terms, devices, liquids etc. There are no certain amount of "puffs" that equal 1 cigarette. Many of us vape constantly all day long, and if we did that with regular cigarettes it would certainly make us sick. There are numerous variables in vaping, depending on the actual device you use, the method of holding your e-liquid (juice), nicotine strength, base liquid type, and flavorings. All I can suggest without a three page answer is Read, Read, and Read some more on these forums in order to understand what is involved. You can visit a local Vape Shop if there is one near you and they would be very helpful in bringing you up to speed on vaping.

Best Wishes

I'll second what White Rabbit said. I'm new to the e-cigarette world and I've spent the past 3 months researching, reading, and asking hundreds of questions to where many of my friends were ready to beat me over the head with their batteries. But, in the long run, it was worth it as I received my first kit 4 days ago and I've been a happy camper since.

First off, welcome!
Second, I don't know about your "Normal cigarette" habit, but e-cigs are just about the same once you find a good nicotine level for you. I was a pack and a half a day smoker, and I started with the 18mg, and I was puffing on that all day long with no problems. I've moved up to about 20mg since I started making my own e-liquid, and now I can actually put it down for a bit to carry on conversations on breaks.
My girlfriend smoked about a pack a day, but she seems fine with 12-15mg/ml (by vaping now we found out she actually was puffing less on the cigs than I was). The only time I got sick at all was when I tried a 32mg liquid and tried to use it like the 18mg (puff x4, wait a couple breaths, puff x4, start feeling sick).

It's possible that the nicotine level was just too high for you, but I would think that the 12mg-18mg should be a good starting point if you smoke about a pack a day of the cigs. PM me know if there's anything I can help you with.

Good suggestion from Baditude. But any cig-sized model is going to have big limitations in comparison to many of the slightly to significantly larger model PV's (personal vaporizers) on the market.

I have to agree with wv2win's comments. In vaping, the bigger the battery, the better the vaping experience will be. The cigarette-sized batteries may very well get you off of cigarettes, but you will very soon get tired of all the frequent recharging of batteries they require and how short the batteries last between charges. Once you find out your preference is performance over size ("That's what she said!" :D ) you'll want to advance to a better, bigger battery setup.

I generally recommend the eGo size (mid-level in size) battery setup like this one:

Size comparison: cigarette, 2 cig-sized batteries and 3 ego-size batteries.

The bigger batteries will have more options for juice delivery devices. Every vapor learns to prefer one over another after trying them. I've created a picture dictionary of these juice carriers, with pictures, descriptions, and videos on how they are filled and used:
