3.4 Ohm Dual Coil

Just made this up with some 32Ga Kanthal, 30Ga semi hard silver. I used stock COV Ody wick with an extra chunk under the coils for a thicker wick there

Nets out at 3.3-3.4 Ohms and really chuggs juice and kills batteries

I love it. Got lots of juice and batteries.

The thing vapes like a beast running dual 18350's. I go through 2.5 ml's and a set of batteries in a couple hours and it's well worth it. Just Amazing flavor and reckless throat hit.

Torque, something don't seem right to me, 3.4 ohm? really doesn't seem enough wire there to produce 3.4ohm in a DC mate.

I'm running Kanthal 32 2x1.7 per strand. Its two coils. My machine has .8 ohm loss.

I agree, I use 32awg Kanthal and that looks about a 1 - 1.5 ohm DC to me.

possible short mate, 2x1.7 would be a 0.85 coil mate

Could i have a short? Its been running for several hours and hits great. Whatever I did, I hope I can replicate it when this one goes.

did you measure over the wire before you cut it, and miss-calculated its output, 0.85-0.9 looks around that size

Edit: just to be clear, doubling the coil halves the resistance "roughly"

Same as mine and mine reads 0.9 ohms (with wire provided with the kit though)

When you check your final ohms reading do you do so when it's assembled in its base by attaching the negative lead to the outside of the 510 connector and the positive on the centre pole? If so it sounds like 2 of the coils could be touching at some point causing the resistance to jump up.

this would need trippling to get 3.4 as it meters at 1.1,

Yeah, to fit a 3ohm + dc in you'd have to use incredibly fine gauge resistance wire which would most likely go poof as soon as you put current through it

I guess you're correct. I put it on my Provari and it registers as an error. I must have a wire touching. Whatever i did though, it vapes great. I just need to be able to replicate it

the error on the provari could be that its just so low in resistance that its throwing the error out because of the Amp draw.
really do think its just your calculations, no offence intended dude. the measurement was prebuild obviously no?

i've no doubt it vapes great, the ody is such a blast and really does kick ... with a single coil, in dual coil setup nothing can touch it. period.

i'm just hoping my AWIMR's hold well, mind with this good a vape i wouldn't mind having to buy a new battery every week

ya bro....if you had a 3.4 ohm DC, both strands would be huge..... (2) 7 ohm strands in parallel = 3.486 ohms DC...(edited) Oddy is correct, it should be around .85 ohms DC if you used (2) 1.7 ohm strands

I do not see how the coil/coils are even still working @ 7.4V, I agree that is has to be in the 3Ω range because under 1Ω at that voltage would be a sizzling lip melting 60-ish watts of power. That would be redunkulously hot to vape

Did you use any special tricks to get a wrap that neat and well spaced? That's a work of art compared to some of mine.

camera is on charge, when i get home from the mothers this evening i'll get on to it. it won't help the regulars but may help give some ideas to anyone new to rebuildables.
