Something about these attys makes them good at any voltage. I have a menthol in a 3.5 HV mini at 3.7 volts on purpose and the vapor's warm, flavor's spot on on, the draw is easy...

This leads me to believe there's some kinda fairy dust shenanigans going on at Ikenvape. I never expected to be happily vaping at 3.7, much less with a 3.5 ohm atty...

Ikenvape attys are made by elves in a hollow tree. Most people don't know that.

I knew it! You just get a feeling about these things...

I usually vape 3.5 at 6v but wanted to check it out at 3.7 just to see what an 801 constructed like this could do. It can do wondrous things, just as I suspected. I don't have a 5 volt device (since my Big KaZoo went mysteriously missing) but I bet it's wonderful.

Thanks, Mist. I keep going back and forth on the variable voltage thing. On the one hand it's easy enough to regulate a PV with the right combo of atty resistance and battery voltage but I could well be missing a sweet spot (like that 4.8v) somewhere between 3.7 and 6 v and 2.0 and 3.5 ohms. I don't want to have to carry a screwdriver or to own a voltage reader thingy or to explain the screen on my PV...or maybe I do. All I know for sure is, I want/need/must have a juice-fed mod for these 801s before I can make that kind of decision.

CORRECTION!
I just re read my above post. I meant to say that I run my 3.5Ω attys at 5.8 V, not 4.8.
Trust me Sewknitty, VV is a whole other world compared to any fixed voltage. I was using a GLV2 5 volt befor I got my Buzz and that's a darn fine PV but being able to adjust voltage in fine increments allows you to fine tune to juice flavors as well as the atty. You wouldn't believe how different juices can taste. I'm actually enjoying juices now that I had planned on giving away.
I think VV is definitely worth it.

5.8 reads like it'd be perfect - warm with the edge taken off the sizzle. I love 6 volts but I find the Tenergy batteries a little termpermental. Maybe it's just me...but I doubt it. What kind of batteries do the VVs run on? I've got my mind set on an Isaac PV so I'll take a look at them between refreshing the Ikenvape site.

You have been found out Ikenvape now we know why your cartomizers and atomizers are the best ones available.

Lol god I love this forum!
Hi Sew! Thats great to that you have found another fave combination. I just got in the pro vari today its a fun and neat little toy that s supposed to take 1 18500 3.7 v battery with a step up converter for vv.I been using a 510hv attie on it today at 5.4 v which has been a treat. I don't really notice a change if its not by a 1 whole volt. .5 is a slight difference but nothing major. The electronics kid in me is loving it, but I am completely content with the 5v Switch box and standards such as 3.7 and 6. I had greater expectations for it overall. Although the features like reading barret voltage and atomizer ohm readings are just awesome.it is a pretty heavy unit but also looks very nice.I need ro get some battery run times recorded I used 14500 on it but only lasted 3 hours.the 18500 was around the 5 hour mark the first run.there is an extension sleeve available for a 18650 but it feels big and heavy enough really.

Yup yup, I agree. The only feature of the Provari that calls my name is its ability to give me the atty ohms. Same thing with the upcoming Darwin. No matter how hard I try I get my atys all mixed up and can't tell a LR from a HV. I may buy one of those voltage reading thingies with the prongs but they seem mega complicated and will make my vaping station appear a little mad scientist-y.

Okay, after posting that I realized only a ditz would keep her attys in disarray. I'd take a picture but I can't lay hands on the camera but the solution was head slappingly simple. HV full size 801s are now wearing metal drip tips and the LR Delrin toppers. I even managed to get some Delrins on Isaac's HV 801 shorties. All head gear came from Good Prophets.
