Anyone know what 3 blinks means on an ego? You would think if they built these features into a batt, they would put an explaination in the user manual. But I tracked that down on the joyetech site, and of course nothing.

I was trying to use it earlier with 2 different vivis, and with both of them I press the buton, it lights up for a fraction of a second, then goes out. When I begin to unscrew the vivi- no matter how long I wait it only happens when I remove it- I get 3 flashing lights. It will fire my Phoenix clearo just fine. Both Vivis are testing at 2.6 ohms and work fine on my I pro. TIA

3 blinks mean a short. you may have rebuilt the coil and left the wire in the middle a bit long so it touches the main body when screwed in.

[Sigh] I can't cut it any closer. The cutters won't get any closer. LOL I guess I will have to use the twist until it breaks method from now on. :) Thanks for your help, Ken and everyone else.

Use a nail clipper. Or go to R.Shack and get a pair of wire-cutters for small electronic use.

Strange. On both my twist and my spinner, 5 blinks is off too long (10 or 8 seconds) followed by 15 (I think) for low battery and it won't work until charged... 3 is a short... Which type of ego device do you guys have?

Same on every genuine Joyetech eGo battery I've ever owned (and there have been many). Mine also blink three times when you turn them on/off, but I'm assuming that's taken as read. I've encountered the 3 blinks during normal vaping several times: for me it's always been due to an old, flooded carto dumping liquid on the center pin and creating a short.

No it is fully charged. It will work with other devices. Mine has never blinked 3 times for a low battery. It works until the battery dies, and then it blinks a lot more than 3 times and will not fire again.

It has to be a short. It isn't much of a short which is why it was difficult to diagnose. The ohms are testing fine, it will fire on another device, but has destroyed 4 sets of batteries. I guess from now on I need to test my coils on my overly sensitive ego before I use them on my mod.

Mine too. I just tested it, and it is 3 blinks for on/off and 3 blinks for 10 sec shut off. But this was it will not fire and 3 blinks, not held too long or shut down.

I've had this happen on two of my Joye eGo-c batts using various Vision clearos - stardusts, CE4's and 5's - and perhaps only certain individual Vision or cloned vision products. I've had a fully charged battery turn off after screwing on the clearos - three blinks and turn off and I've 'started it up' by two methods - putting it back on the charger for about a minute, until it goes back to green on the charger OR do a 5 click off and on. In both cases the batt started up again - like a 'reboot'. In one case the 5 click fix didn't work but putting it back on the charger for a minute or so, did. However, after that happened a few more times on that batt - I marked it - it died. (I also metered the clearo at 2.2ohms - nothing that would give me reason to believe it was a 'below 1.0 ohm type short' - which will kill eGo's and Rivas - many cases reported on this.. )

My take on it was that the short protection was blown and with repeated tries with that same clearo and with that same batt - without the short protection, it eventually killed that batt. It's the only eGo-c that I've had die and it took a few times to kill it - after 2 incidents - it became an 'experiment' ;-) I had one other battery where the same thing happened but not since I've stopped using vision products and am Kanger T3, baby T3 and a few Evods all the time. Never had any incidents with either Kanger tech products or the original eGo-c atty/tanks system. So I have one battery now that has had the short protection blown but it continues fine as long as I'm using the Tabac BCC/Kanger T3.

Earlier Joye eGos and early eGo-ts (except for the eGo-t "upgrade" batt - which has some improved short protection now) don't have that short protection and will die immediately. No tricks to revive.
