So, I use an Npro. Bought it 4 weeks ago after doing some reading on these forums. I've officially been without an analogue for 3 weeks (hazzah!).

Anyway, the quirks of the Npro are starting to get to me. Now, you should know that I now own 3 different starter kits for the Npro. Time line goes like this.

Day 1 - I buy one.
Day 3 - That day suggest a coworker switches. He was reluctant. Told him that if he didn't like it, I'd buy it off him for full price because I wanted a backup and one of my batts was dead in the box.

Day 7 - Fiance buys one. Now we have two sets with 3 batts to work with
Day 10 - Coworker goes back to analogue and I'm guilted into buying it off him even though one atty is basically dead : (

Anyway, now I have this pile of Npro gear and want to try something else. Typical, right? I've read so much about soooo many brands and looked at so many manufacturers but I'm feeling totally overwhelmed. I know my Npros are RN4081 so I know I want to stay away from that model. I also know there are 100 posts like this on the forum and I've read them but I think I need my own thread to ask exactly what I need to ask and have direct contact to you guys.

So without further adu, here are my problems with my RN4081s (not in order of importance):

1. Battery life (ICK!). The batts seem to have a pretty weak charge typical of penstyle e-smokes. Still, there has to be a better option. I was looking at maybe usb pass throughs for my cubical at work and or longer batts like Janty's Dura-C XL batt.

2. Cart not made for dripping. I, like everyone else, have quickly discovered that buying carts is a money sink. I buy from Janty at this point and love it. I've even mastered dripping into the Njoy carts. I just don't like the fact that the fake cotton will stick to the atty when removing. Also, some times, I'll find that I'm getting no vap. I'll remove the cart and cotton will be stuck to atty and it will clearly have more than enough juice to vap. Makes no sense. I'll replace batt and still no luck. I'll have to take the cotton and push it further down into the cart's cotton holder than it was originally. This fixes it getting stuck to the atty but buts the lifetime of one filling in half since the cotton has been depressed.

3. juice in the mouth. Sometimes this just happens. I'll angle down but I think it's a sign that the cart was overfilled.

4. Automatic. From what I've read, I think what I actually want is a manual where I can preemptively heat up the atty so my first drag is a real one.

Sum up: Okay, for all you pros out there, can you tell from what my complaints are about the RN4081 which e-smoke I'm really looking for? I'm not married to having a penstyle but I at least know that I like it. I don't know if I would like something else but, if it would resolve even 2 of the issues listed above, I'd be willing to switch.

Again any help is appreciated : )

Wow! Big target here.

1. Check out the Copper (AtmosUSA.biz) as it uses big batts and "made for" the RN4801 at 6volts - knock your socks off.

2. 510 is the rave. Throat hit, drip friendly, manual batts and lots of batt mods that support it.

3. JantyStick - you talk of penstyle (801) and this comes standard with 801, 3-5 hour batt life, usb vape/charge all for $80.

4. Batt mod - check out that forum, by a cheap laser/flashlight, and wire up your own.

Well, I'm by no means a pro, but I've been at this for a few months now. Like you, I've gone through my share of complaints. I started with a Joye 306a, then a mini-pipe, then a 510. Out of those 3 models, I liked the cart capacity of the pipe and the hit of the 510 the best. Still, I was tired of the fiddling with the dang things constantly to get my nic fix.

So, I ordered a Janty Stick after reading much information on the forum. Been using it for a bit over a week now. It is what I expected an ecig to be, per the following:

1. Battery life. The 10440 batteries last me at least 5 hours without charging and the USB charger/passthrough feature is great. No more battery swapping. Plus, these are standard li-ion batteries that you can buy from multiple places cheaply.

2. Cartridge. Capacity is great @ 1ml of liquid. At first, I couldn't get the cartridge to wick well on the atty. Tried the straw mod, but it leaked on me (although it works great in my 510). Ended up doing the foam mod (see link) and now I can vape the cart almost dry without having to top off. Also, I found that the 302 attys from MyVaporStore seem to wick better than the Janty atty that came with the device.

3. Juice in the mouth. Have not had this issue once.

4. Automatic or Manual. For me, manual is the ONLY way to go.

This is the first time since I started vaping that I've had a device that I could just pick up and use throughout the day without taking it apart to change/add something. I carry a spare charged battery and a filled cart in the holster it comes with and I'm set for the day.

Disclaimer: I am in no way bashing any other PV device, but just stating my observations from my own experience. Also, the first stick I received was defective, but was quickly handled with warranty replacement.

Good luck,

Jeff

Thanks so much guys. I was already thinking about the Janty Stick and after your recommendations, I think I'll go with that.

Just two questions for nubee:

1. Whats a good example of a 510 model?

2. Where can I get the Janty Stick for $80? I'm assuming all my Npro parts won't work with it so I'll have to get the starter.

Apparently I can't edit yet but just looked and I was looking at the kissbox not Janty Stick. I wasn't that interested in the Janty Stick only because I thought it was just their branding of the RN4081. Is this not the case? You say it's an 801 but it looks just like my Npro with a different paint job.

Have you tried direct dripping on your RN4081?

I got one of those first and now have a bunch of 510s with a Protege in the mail! woot!

Anyway, the RN4081 is actually not bad. I have a real hard time with the auto batt but if you direct drip onto the atty and put the blank cart(no stuffing/fill) you don't get juice in your mouth while trying to activate the batt.

There are tons of 510 suppliers and everyone has there preference. I ordered mine from 2 different sponsors here and can recommend them both. Innovapor and Heavens-Gifts.

Or you can skip that step and just get a mod. ;)

Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.

Cheapest 510 out there, boxless, but has everything the other sellers will give you for only $35. Bargain.

A battery mod (I suggest 3.7v) would keep you from having to mess with stock e-cig batteries. They can run all day to several days depending on the mod and the battery size it uses.

Many have problems with 6v, so not recommended for a newer user at all. There are plenty of good mods available for very inexpensive prices. I bought a Little Chuck for 3.7v and it kicks out 4.2 volts at first charge (and there is the Chuck at 3.7v/4.2 that will run 2 days on it's battery, but it is a larger unit). Amazing unit that lasts all day and I don't worry about my atomizers on it. Attys are expensive, and there is some uncertainty with availability if the FDA thing goes south. Stock up on plenty of them what ever model you buy.

Excellent info, guys. Thank you all so much. I've decided to go with the Janty Stick. No idea why they say it can't ship until 10/13 but I guess I'll survive. I grew up with the internet and expect instant gratification but I'll make due.

Most of all, after reading what so many have said, I'm really excited to switch to a manual. Heres hoping thats what I actually want.

Hellen, you mentioned Battery Mods. So, if I bought one of these, I wouldn't have to do any modding myself, right? It would just be a plug-and-play kinda scenario, right?

Also, I've read in the mod section how so many struggle with modding their carts to get maximum juice fill and wicking. After modding, people talk about how the first three attempts failed but then they got it down. Even then, though, they talk about how they'll put all the pieces together correctly and like 1 of 3 of them just won't work for some unknown reason. Is there a store somewhere where they sell already modded carts where each one will work correctly out of the box? There has to be, right? Someone must have created a penstyle cart that is packed with the right material and that never need to be thrown away, right? If so, does anyone have a link?

Janty has been out of stock for a couple weeks, and are supposedly in the midst of restocking. I actually got mine from Parked at DietSmokes.

The Janty Stick uses a 10440 li-ion battery that you can buy from many battery retailers. It's not e-cig specific. I bought 8 of them off ebay for about 13 bux shipped.

As far as carts go, I tend to watch the forum and see what is working for other folks. Then I try and tweak as needed. That's how I ended up with the foam mod that I'm using now. So far, not a single cart that I've stuffed with the foam has failed me. It took me about an hour to sit down and cut up a whole box of the foam, which will last me months (I prewashed it). I put the cut "plugs" in a ziplock bag. Now it only takes a minute for me to stuff a "plug" into a clean cart and then drip in 30+ drops of liquid. I wash the empties once a week in very hot water with a bit of soap. Not very time consuming at all. Polyfill, Fluval, and teabags always took me longer and were all inconsistent for me.

One note about the Janty Stick... It takes a couple days to wake up the atomizer and about a day to get all the primer taste out. Don't get discouraged with it. I almost did, but am so glad I didn't.

Sorry I didn't read the above posts...

anyways- I started like you on the NJOY NPRO- The only thing it did for me was it sparked my interest in e-cigs and made my hear to ECF!!! So NJOY does pay off one way or another.

Anyways- My next step into the e-cig world was the Joye 510- its a great starter kit- I wish I would have got the 510 first. Around the same time I got a hellava good deal on a Janty Kissbox- (65 bucks brand new) I LOVE the Kissbox. I have since bought 3 Kissbox kits. Then I went to the Janty stick b/c I can vape it all day at work without switching the batteries as often as the Kissbox. Now I am on my first Mod- the Silver Bullet- which is amazing BTW- 6v is wheres its at and I don't think I'll ever vape on 3.7 again- well, only when I feel like mixing it up.

Anyways- one good thing about NJOY was their customer service. I had a DOA battery and I called the up and the immediately sent me a new one- no questions asked. So, my suggestion is to call them up and get your non-working parts replaced for free. I ended up selling my NJOY kit and I kinda wish I still had it only for the fact I think I could get it to work much better now than it was when I was new and didn't really know what I was doing- mainily I want to try that RN4081 atty again. Like someone stated above- If I were you with all those RN4081 I would go for that Copper mod. It is made specifically for the RN4081- it would be a great upgrade for a CHEAP price (around 50-60 bucks) and you wouldn't have to buy any different parts to make it work- any other mod is atleast $100 in most cases plus you would need new parts. I think its kinda weird the copper was made for the RN4081 because it seems like that atty isn't used much anymore especially for mods. If you went with any other mod- you would have to go to the basics (there are a few more options) 510 atty, 801, or a 901. I would say about 80% of all the e-cigs and mod are made for those 3. And

Also, if you wanted to sell your NJOY kits I sold mine in the Classified Forum in 2 days. I didn't think anyone would want it but someone sent me a PM and accepted my asking price. They were getting my kit for the warranty (the people who bought it had multiple kits and they would send parts back all the time and they wanted my kit for extra parts).

Sorry to ramble on but Cliffnotes:
1. Keep the RN4081 attys and get a "Copper" mod for $60 bucks- great deal.
2. Keep the NJOY and buy a 510 starter kit for around 40-50 bucks- give or take 10 bucks depending on how ell you shop.
3. Sell the NJOY- people do want to buy them, as I learned, mostly for extra parts and for the warranty.
4. Read Read Read- everyone I came across on the forum helped me out with any thing I asked about- This forum has the nicest members I have ever met on a forum and they are all willing to help. Most forums ive been on people are .......s and are quick to tear your head off for asking a question they think is dumb.

EDIT:

You can get the Janty Stick v2 here: www.dietsmokes.com - Ive ordered from Parked there a couple times- he ships the same day and took two days from the day I ordered to get the kit. I even chose to get from dietsmokes over Janty themselves. Do some more reading before you pull the trigger, there are tons of different options out there, The stick is a pretty good unit- mainly for the battery life, for that 80 bucks you can get some other bad ... vaping machines for that price or a little bit more that you will be really happy with.

Could you elaborate on this? Which one do you think would be a better use of my $80?

P.s. - Thanks for all the feed back. Very helpful : )
