30 Watt Cloupor Finally Giving Out

So after about a year my cana mod is finally giving out, mainly the usb board won't charge anymore, its almost as if there's a bad connection between the board and the rest of the build, the led lights up and all, but no charge at all to the battery. That and I was hoping to find a battery with a higher mah (currently using a purple 2200 mah efest). So here are my options as I see them until my sx350 box is finished being built for me by another modder I commissioned.

1: buy a usb charging board and try my hand at replacing it myself
2: Buy the 30 watt enclosure kit from fast tech and try to put one together from scratch
3: ???

I'm sort of at a loss since I don't even so much as own a soldering iron and haven't modding anything before. What kinds of parts would you guys recommend for something like this with about the same form factor? I mean, I could just continue to remove the battery by hand and charge it externally like i've been doing the past few days but its kind of annoying compared to when I could just plug my usb cable into the box. On that note, I wonder if I could fit an led switch in there too... hmmm

Did you try a new battery? That could be your only problem, as they do have a charge life.

No, I haven't tried a new battery, but it charged just fine in an external battery charger. Plus when I insert the usb cable to the box, the led doesn't always light/stay lit. Even after adjusting it so the the cable stays in a position that lights the led it doesn't show a charge.

Sounds like a cold solder connection jiggle the wires a bit in there and hope for the best. Otherwise it needs soldering, its rare a charger will go so soon unless u juiced it or it shorted the traces on the dna clone even a problem on the OEM DNA's. The fix is to direct wire it to the battery if it traced but if not yeah you have a cold join and that can be fixed easily but without a soldering iron and some basic skillset you need help, auto shop or audio shop could fix it in a jiff..

Thanks, I was beginning to think maybe a connection had come apart or something, but idk, maybe this is good way for me to get my feet wet with modding.

Yes and yes....buy the board and use that as a learning experience, then build a mod. If you want some help, there are plenty of folks near you. I am in Blacksburg on the weekends and a few are closer still.
