Running DID with Provari and really happy. Used the drill bit method for the first time this week and again really happy. Ya'll have been very helpful getting me from micro's to rba's in four month's and I am coming down the final stretch for at least the forseeable future unless the FDA gets involved and f's the whole thing up.

  • That been said what is the right mesh diameter and wire guage for flavor and throat hit?
I am using 32 with 325 and 5 wraps gets me between 2-3ohms which seems high. Most posts I read site ohms in the sub 2 range. Am I wrapping too many times?

Please give me your opinion on mesh and wire, I'll take all comers.

Thanks, Go Rangers!

it doesnt hurt to grab a couple 6 in squares of each and just try them. beyond wicking i havent seen much difference in TH. turning the hole off the wick will give you plenty of TH btw.
if you want to drop resistance you can try to wrap less or go to a lower guage of wire. the lower the guage the lower the resistance
im running 32 right now about 1.8-2.1 ohms

i have been real into the 500 lately it seems to wick great. but i will use whatever i grab first lol

a good thing to do is go somewhere like rtdvaper and just pick up a couple small rolls of each guage like 3-4 feet for 1.50 and try them and see what works for you.

I have a couple version 1 Provaris, which have an amp limit of 2.5 A. For this reason, I build my coils at ~2.0 ohms, so that I have sufficient adjustment range, and still stay below the 2.5 A threshold, when I'm vaping at my preferred 10 to 11 watt range, which is the sweet spot for several of my DIY juices. I use 32 awg A-1 kanthal, and 400 or 500 mesh.

what do you mean by turning the hole off the wick?

i usually am at the opposite side of the range then most, i own a couple of DID's and a provari v2, also a mechanical mod. like 28g kanthal 4/5 or 3/4 wrap 0.08 to 1.0 range. vape at around 3.2 to3.6 volts. 500 mesh solid wick. mesh size to start(4-1/2 in x 1-1/2). results in a faster draw with thicker vapor. downfall, drains batteries a little quicker.

If you have a real DID...then that is about right. The wick hole is pretty large on the DID and if you make your wicks thick...then five wraps will get you about 2.5-3 ohms with 32g wire. You can try and take one wrap off and see how you like it. You can also make your wraps compact (i put 4 wraps in 3mm area). If you have provari v2 you can mess with the lower gauge wires. Use 30g wire and do 4 or 5 wraps and see if you like that better ( I like 5 wraps in 3mm area). IF you want to mess with 28g on a Provari you better make your wick super thick or else you will get low ohms messages...because you will be very near the cutoff. Most people who use 28g wire usually use a mechanical mod.
