fight on fred... keep pushing for that diagnosis !

There is nothing worse than knowing you are not right, and not having a name to put to it, along with a name comes peace, as you now know how to begin to treat.

It fabulous to know nothing shows on an MRI, but that doesnt help, as you need to know what IS wrong..

Good Luck to you

Ho finally got MRI results now for those wondering: negative there is nothing wrong.
So the doc said: well I don't have a clue so... we got to wait and see for more symptomas.
That was the second hospital, same no-diagnostic. That was the two best Belgian hospitals & neurologic diagnostic teams.
I know it's a difficult job for them but ho well I am used to it and at least I know I don't have something nasty that can be seen with a MRI now.

Maybe no news is actually good news Fred in that with most degenerative nerve diseases there is definitive diagnosis and would be something chronically and progressive disabling.

I know it still sucks, but it sounds like you're dealing with it pretty well.

I have chronic head noise - like static or white noise in my head at all times. The volume and pitch of the noise changes at times depending on background noise and stress.

The Docs have told me to "just deal with it" cause there's no treatment or cure. What everyone wants to hear huh - just deal with it. I'll tell them what they can deal with hahaha!!

Yes, I much prefer a probablity of multiple sclerosis than some tumor showing on an MRI. I feel better knowing the negative results of that test now.

Sorry you got the same kind of trouble than me with the noise.
I have an acufen in the left ear: 24 hours a day, 7 days per week of high pitch noise and I got told the same "deal with it as the treatments are most of the time worst than just getting used to it".

And a big thank you to all of you who don't even know me in real life while still really caring about that IRM.
Big hugs, you are really nice human beings.

Tinitus... is what I know it as.. constant noise in one or both ears, I too share this condition, and it can be so depressing. Although I find, I can dismiss it and forget about it,until it drowns out someone talking and I hear myself say 'pardon?' or have the TV or music up loud so I can hear.

Funny it drowns out certain pitches like various stages of deafness, but the pitch is replaced by the terrible noise.

Funny the dreadful things we learn to live with, eh? :(

Fred, with rare exception I've found it's pretty easy to discern a person's character and quality without meeting them IRL. It's easy to care for someone with a big and open heart.

I read that chronic head noise is the second worse condition to have with chronic back pain the first.

But the thing is - it's not in my ears as tinnitus is - it's diffuse in my head.

It's certainly devastating at times and affects my ability to function when the volume/pitch goes sky high.

I thought my rating of 10 being the highest when one day I had a definite 15 - that was a day I just went back to bed and listened to my sleepy rain CD all day in an attempt to mask the noise and get some comfort.

I take niacin (1 pill) and B12 (1 pill) and clear tinnitus (2 capsules) daily and have found some relief in the intensity. It's still always there but the volume/pitch stays at a more sane level most days.

My husband has to vacuum cuz my head noise likes to "compete" with the pitch of the vacuum cleaner. And the organ player at church likes to belt out the sound!! I had to change my mass schedule to avoid that organ player.

Aah... such is life I suppose.

I have a constant pain on the right side back of head. Been to many doctors. Had MRI and CT scans. They say ,they do not know. Think its nerve problem. I have to take meds for it. This all started with my ear infection. I had to get ear tubes. The tubes are now gone and do not need them, but pain in head still there. My ear doctor saids this is cause from smoking. My ear infections that is. I also hear head noises. Clicking sounds. I feel for you Mamu.
