Might want to check them when you get them in hoog...I got 3 of the blue 3AA and 2 of them had cracks in them, one on the cover, one where the batt tab was pressed in. They are too flimsy to mod IMHO...so I'll just use them for parts. Need to find some good Delrin boxes for 3AA's. The black box is ok though....

Just letting you know.......

thanks nico, the colored boxes are definitely more brittle and require real slow/light touch drilling.. Were the boxes you got packaged correctly? hoog

Yes, packaging was fine...just the telltale mass production workmanship...but hey they weren't $10 boxes either. Yes they would work for simple mods no problem. Not complaining...just a shout out so you could watch out for it. It is hard to see the cracks in the translucent stuff.

I definitly agree that the colored boxes are way more brittle than the solid white or black ones. I have broke a couple drilling the hold for the connector. The white boxes are my favorite to use for some reason. Thats what my 5V box mod is.

Yeah, I use a Foredom flex-shaft tool with carbide cutters to do the drilling...I wouldn't use twist drills for any thin plastic unless you sandwich where your drilling with scrap plastic or wood to stabilize it so the bit wont bite in when it breaks through.

Delrin and some others are softer and more flexible like the black boxes.
