There isn't one for these. There used to be, but it really didn't work as you would expect and needed exactly what the all of the ones sold now need --> 5 to 6 hours on the charger and the batteries are charged. You might be able to get one in the classifieds if you watch close or post a 'want to buy'. If you post WTB, you'll need to ask if anyone will sell you a 5.0v ni-mh charger from electronicstix sold more than 3 months ago.

I understand you could use a multimeter. Unfortunately that is not an option...

I am trying to get my family members on this device. It has to work, period. It has to tell them when the battery is charged. It needs to be simple.

I think 4.8v is a magical number that can duplicate analogs. If there was only one battery to charge (and you could own a handful) it would be great.

The problem now is you need specific skills to know if the battery is charged or not. It's a non starter. Beyond that, the device is perfect with DC Cartos and a 4.8v bat.

Seriously, is this a bad batch? Just got a pair from the last stock update after hearing so many good things. I'm reading about other people getting 4-6 hours out of these and one even said all day. I get about an hour and a half of moderate vaping before they die out. And that's leaving them on the charger while I'm at work (8 hours) or overnight (about seven hours).

The 4.8V NiMH have worked well for me, I've found a 2.6-3.0 ohm load, atty or carto works best. Low res attys or cartos will drain these very fast, such as the dual coils. But the DCC will drain any battery faster than a regular carto, they pull more amps and any battery has just so many mah in them. MAH = milliampere hours and 1 milliampere = 0.001 amperes and the DCC or other LR can be drawing 2.5 - 3.x amperes every time you press the button (that's 2500 to 3000 ma), not many mah in any battery to go around. :)

I thought resistance could be an issue, so I've been using them with a standard Joye 510 atomizer. This doesn't solve anything.

Have you checked the actual measured resistance on your attys? And the voltage of the battery hot off the charger? One or the other might point to a cause for your experience. :)

How long do they last while vaping?
I absolutely love the 4.8 volt NiMH Batteries in my Maxi.

The voltage is perfect for DC cartos.

My only qualm is the 4.8 volt NiMH Battery Charger. It is not smart, so I have no idea of the battery state of any of the batteries.

Could anyone offer a suggestion for a battery charger, that is "smart" for the 4.8 volt NiMHs?

Okay, got me a couple 4.8's today. Few questions...

What voltage should I see on the meter of a fully charged 4.8? What is the minimum voltage I should allow before recharging?

Will the 4.8 battery automatically cut-off when discharged? Is it bad to vape until the battery dies?

Thanks everybody, especially Six, for sharing their experience.

JJ :)

Mine all charge to about 5.6v no matter which charger I use (I have three chargers - the first one electronicstix used to have that quits charging on its own, the second one from them which does not, and one from madvapes which also does not). 5 to 6 hours on the charger always gets them to around 5.6.

I usually use them until they stop producing vapor. The last few minutes they're in use, they drop off really fast and my best guess is that they would read somewhere around ~4.4v when they're on their last few switch presses/drags. I can never seem to get a reading below 4.5v, so ymmv.

I don't think it's a bad idea to just vape on them until they're dead. However, I learned from the first two I bought elsewhere that they don't handle being stored dead very well. I stored a couple in the fridge for about 3 weeks without putting any charge on them first, and when I took them out to put them back in service, neither would take a charge and both got blistering hot on the charger. - If you ever need to take them out of service for any length of time, I think it's a good idea to charge them first and maybe pop them back on the charger every three weeks or so for maybe an hour or something (I read that advice about some other ni-mh batts on one of the RC forums once - the radio control guys seemed to think that was gospel).

Thanks guys. One 4.8 came off the charger at 5.66V, the other at 5.62V. That's what I needed. A benchmark.

While the 4.8's were charging I hit my new RoughStack with an 18650. Wow. The RS is a no BS vaping machine. I always thought 3.7 was 3.7. I was wrong.

Handsome, comfortable, solid, and a performer. Glad I bought a RoughStack.

Goodnight, JJ :)

I've given up on the 4.8v battery. I started with 6 a month ago and every single one of them is now dead and won't accept a charge. Well, that or my charger is dead but I can't tell as it says it is charging with the battery in the cradle even when it is not plugged in.

Now I need to find another battery in the 5v range or move on to another mod as 3.7v is too low and 6v is too high (and those are currently my only options.)

I don't know of any other mod-ready batteries that would suit that purpose. So, you might have to consider variable voltage.

I'm thinking charger problem based on my experience. I have (had) 2 of these chargers from 2 different vendors. One charger has been great but the other one was problematic. I would put the battery in it, the light would come on but never seemed to charge very well. Checked a battery out with a multimeter prior to charging and noted the voltage....put it on the charger, light came on, charged for 2 hours, checked the voltage again and found it had dropped. Thinking the charger wasn't working and the battery was actually powering the light on the charger and draining the batt. even more.

Was going to order another of the "good" chargers but they were out of stock. Thought to myself that the one "bad" charger was a fluke so I ordered another. Same thing within a week. By the way...the "good" charger has been going for 4 months now. I have 4 batts. that have been going that long also, but have had 2 that went belly-up in about 3 weeks.

I use dual coils...vape non-stop if I can get away with it and can get around 4 hours on a good, fresh batt
