4 days smoke free after 6 months+ are e-cig battles a 'thing'?

Hi everyone ..

I signed up here last October, bought all my e-cig equipment, my juice etc. spent a lot of money, but then put everything in a drawer and kept smoking analogues because quitting them felt like I was breaking up with the love of my life ... ridiculous I know. But then being the paranoid person that I am, I found myself reading about oral cancers, gave myself a scare, and after a decade of destroying my body I can finally say I haven't smoked an analogue cigarette in 4 days.

In case there's someone reading this who is considering the switch (also because I'm excited!) I wanted to share my experience after just four short days. First of all I can't believe how easy it's been! I was expecting to feel angry, agitated, insane cravings + all the other terrible withdrawal symptoms but I'm feeling totally in control. I'm also suprised that I don't find myself needing/wanting to vape ALL the time .. I actually vape significantly less than the amount of analogues I used to smoke!

In terms of general health, my right sinus area feels like it's already decongesting, it kind of feels like a defrosting sensation .. has anyone else felt that? Weird! Breathing is already a little bit better, but I do have a runny nose that comes and goes. Also feel like I can swallow better? Post nasal drip is also significantly less. Anyway, the point is, I'm super excited to see what health improvements will be like in a few weeks/months from now!

Finally, I was at a housewarming party the other night vaping with the smokers when I noticed a fellow vaper. This led to a comparison of hardware along the lines of "mine does this" "well, mine does this, does yours do that?" etc. Following which one of the analogue smokers said, "I have no idea what they just spoke about, but I'm pretty sure it was an e-cig battle and she (me) lost." So I don't even know if that's a 'thing' but there you have it, four days in and I've already had my very first public e-cig battle, and also feel like it may be time for an upgrade

Before you know it, it will be 4 months! Good for you. I am at about 2.5 months and still am amazed at how easy it was to put down the cigs and pick up vaping. Love all the wonderful flavors of juices. And, last night I went on a long walk with my son and his dog and for the first time we didn't have to stop every block for me to catch my breath. My son was SO happy (don't know how the dog felt, LOL). I smoked most of my adult life and count myself lucky that I didn't have any horrible health issues, but like you I had post-nasal drips and sinus issues, etc. It is so great to be a non-smoker!!!

I felt the same way. I thought it would be tough to switch but it wasn't. I just stopped. I got a good set up and then another one. I have been very happy. I breath better and my mouth doesn't feel and smell like the bottom of an ashtray. I someday will upgrade again, when I can afford it. So congratulations

Way to go! It really is easy, isn't it? I was amazed when I got down to 3, 2, 1 a day, and felt no pining for the cigarettes at all... so I knew it really was time to quit, and it's just unbelievable what a difference vaping makes, when you're quitting smokes -- so many times I tried and failed, the suffering was so awful. That's not to say that you won't ever crave a cigarette again; you might, but the cravings are very ignorable when you're vaping like mad; just find something to distract yourself while vaping, and pretty soon you'll forget all about any craving.

I'm *still* having sinus issues, but the lung issues seem to be mostly over, although I do have asthma and that will never go away; it's improved so much, I'm hopeful that the next year will see it becoming even less troublesome. I always thought my sinus problems were due to 1) 2nd hand smoke, and 2) my own smoke, after I started, but who knows; it could be just plain allergy, it's pollen season here ("green snow" on EVERYTHING!), so maybe when spring is over, the sinus issues will fade away too. Or maybe it just takes a lot more than 40 days to undo 39 years of damage!

Vape on!! :vapor:

Haven't really encountered a situation like that. Honestly I enjoy the engineering behind some of the stuff, but to me it's not so much as to what features you have or what's better etc etc. it's what works for you and your needs. If a simple setup does it's job (keeping you off cigs and enjoying vaping) then what more can you ask for!

Congrats on the quitting.

You'll find there's much more to vaping than just the smoking substitution. Vaping has become a sort of community. When you see an Ecig, it's almost natural to compare and browse equipment. The closest thing I can compare to, is like in the US, if you own a Harley Davidson motorcycle, you're in this unwritten club. When they park beside another Harley, they usually check out each other's bikes, talk, compare, brag, etc... I've noticed the same thing with E-cigs.

about 3 days ago, I pulled up to a convienence store and someone was vaping while sitting on his Harley. He had an MVP, I had a Vamo and a mech mod. We compared, checked out each other's mods, etc... all friendly. Swapped Ecig contacts and went on our way. That's happened to me several times. Most of the times, It's me that ends up educating someone with an EGO and a CE4/Vivinova, but more and more I'm starting to see "mods" pop up. It's fun, entertaining, and has so far been very friendly. I hope yo experience that as well.

Thanks so much for all your kind words!! Almost at 2 weeks smoke-free already and feeling amazing! And congratulations to all of you too! :toast:

With regard to the e-cig duel, I must have just encountered a competitive type ... haha. Apart from that situation, I haven't seen many other people vaping around Melbourne just yet so I've been getting a few strange looks here and there. I'm hoping the e-cig community continues to grow down under as well. Considering the amount of cigarettes I used to smoke though, my friends are seriously impressed that a simple e-cig has helped me quit. :)
