If you do get the nautilus 2 and istick 40, all you need to do is screw in coil , wait about 5 minutes , set wattage to anywhere between 8 to 15 and vape. It is best however to prime coils before installing and all that means is take some juice and drip a bit inside the coil, but not in the little hole in center. This priming just get you a head start on saturating the cotton inside...

I've seen people recommend the Endura line by Innokin and this one looks decent:

Innokin Endura T20-S Starter Kit 1500mAh

It's $27.99 plus shipping for an all-in-one with two coils. The coils are "sub Ohm" that come with the kit as they are 0.80 Ohm coils but don't let that trip you up. Here's a video review of it:

My husband (non vaper) helped me look through the info and he also suggests that I just go with the pico and he'll help me keep track of the parts. So the Pico it is. However, I noticed their were different versions. Can anyone recommend the specific type? Vapor Beast was already recommended to me, is this the best site to buy it from?

I have used Vapor Beast for atomizers that were out of stock elsewhere. The customer service and shipping was fine, but I find their prices to be a bit high. I tend to go with My Vapor Store if they have what I need.

Besides Vapor Beast, I'm shopping around different sites, I came up with this at MyFreedomSmokes. Can you tell me what you think of this setup? Is the price OK, are these the right coils, should I get a different battery or is the one in the cart OK?

Vape NW is where I get most of my stuff, but sometimes My Freedom Smokes has some good deals. Both are quality Vendors. I only recommended Vapor Beast because of their awesome price on the dual battery Pico.
That price is a little high on the Pico kit when I have seen other vendors have it for under $30. I ordered my cousins Pico kit off of Ebay with extra coils and an authentic Samsung 25R all for under $45 with free shipping. Of course you have to be careful of getting a clone. Look for US sellers with high ratings and storefront that offer guarantees

So far, I've only seen the kit for over $30 and the mod by itself usually isn't that much cheaper. I looked at ebay for a few minutes before I realize that most of what I was seeing are clones. I ended up leaving ebay because the sellers had good reviews, but most of the satisfied buyers and the description rarely mentioned if the Pico was fake or not.

Thank you for letting me know. I'll start looking again for only the mod then, because from what I've seen all the kits come with the melo tank. I have been trying to stay away from sub-ohm tanks because I don't understand them, and most of the places to buy them warn that they are for advanced users.

Reading over again I noticed that you can only use PG based juices? I'd probably get an N2 over a Mello III in that case, due to the fact that it's got higher resistance coils, and with only VG you may have a harder time running a lower ohms tank successfully....

Thank you. Off ebay, that's one of the cheaper prices I've seen for the mod alone.

You can also order from Rocky Mountain Vapor use the 30% off code "TURKEY" and get mod for ~$23 alone with free shipping. And they do have pink available Eleaf iStick PICO Simple Kit - $32.00 : Rocky Mountain Vapor, The Mountain top of Electronic Cigarettes

They also do have the full kit of you want the included tank as well. I bring this up as you're under a tight budget and savings matter., so ~$10 less may be of interest to you.

Hi,

Can you tell me what you mean by versatility? I'm looking for a simple mod because I'm not very technical. Most of the buttons on my mods go unused to be honest.

I go with Pico 25, it will give you more versatility in the future if you decide to buy a new tank. The 25 refers to size, not wattage.

Thank you very much for this list of places. I'm still searching, but so far these are some of the better prices I've seen for just the mod.

You can get a Pico (no Melo tank) for $25 at Element Vape (good vendor) Eleaf iStick Pico 75W TC Box Mod - JayBo Designs

Samsung 25R (excellent, recommended by among several other batteries by battery expert Mooch) for $5 from IMR (excellent battery vendor) Samsung 25R 18650 2500mAh 20A Flat Top Battery

Charge by USB for now, add a decent $10 Nitecore charger down the road.

Aspire Nautilus 2 $19.99 VapeNW Aspire Nautilus 2 $19.99

That's all just from a quick bounce around. If you don't mind waiting a bit on delvery you can use Fattech/Heavensgifts/3Vape for Chinese sites that will be a bit cheaper but only if you're patient on waiting for delivery. HOWEVER, don't order batteries from overseas (real customs headaches on Li batteries by international mail) or from places like eBay, you're far more likely to get a counterfeit that's more expensive than an authentic). There is a battery section on here if you want to review that, and I'll put up a list of recommended batteries, but really, any of the 18650s will be fine for you (although you don't need anything over 20A so no sense getting higher and having less runtime).

Then next month an extra battery, a charger, and your ongoing expense will be coils and juice. I've used evape.us for Nauti coils, ship from FL and they're reliable and $8.95 for a 5 pack. Electronic Cigarette - Best Electronic Cigarette - Vapor Cigarette Aspire Nautilus BVC Coils (Pack of 5) at www.evape.us

Oh, battery list for the future if you want to get all technical

The point @Letitia made about the Pico 25 is valid as there are more and more larger tanks being released in the 24 and 25 mm sizes. But given your very specific needs right now that can be met with a plain Pico, it's something maybe for another mod down the road as the Pico 25s are more expensive right now than the plain, and you're trying to remain within budget constraints.

That little "another mod down the road" is also a hint that as you go along, having backups is a really good idea. You don't want to find yourself one morning with a nonfunctional mod (it does happen) or broken glass tank (and no other replacement glass) and risk picking up a cigarette instead. You will see the phrase "backups for your backups" mentioned around here for that very reason, but not something you need this moment.

As for my juice. I have an allergic reaction to VG, which I discovered when I tried a recommended max vg juice. So the majority of my menthol juices are 100pg but I also have a few 50/50 juices. Which is another problem for me. I bought the Kangertech Genitank Mega and it wasn't wicking well with a 50/50 mix. Had the same issue with other tanks as well with that same percentage. So I've just been trying to stick to 100%PG menthol.

Can you describe the reaction you had to VG? I noticed that you said that you have tried 50/50, did those make it easier for you? I developed a problem with high VG juices feeling very heavy to me. I feel like they sit too heavily in my lungs. They make me feel like my lungs are getting congested and I'm not breathing well. Using those juices in TC mode helps quite a bit but I am mostly using 50/50 nowadays and that gives me a really good vape. I get the throat hit from the PG but I still get the 'fluffiness' feel of smoke and a mild lung hit as well. I use a vendor that also offers 66/33 (Mister E Liquid) at several nicotine levels and their flavors are pretty good. I use that 66/33 in devices that don't go over 12 Watts or so and it's great for mimicking a cig at 18 mgs nic.

Pico miniSounds like you and I are in the same boat. I started with the Ego style 7 years ago and recently decided I wanted to upgrade. For me, the ideal device for now, seems to be the Pico mini. The .5 ohm Melo tanks were too easy of a draw for me, so I just put the tank and cartos I was using before on it. 1.5 ohm xl cartos in a DCT tank at 10 watts is perfect.

I got the Pico mini without a tank at Vape Northwest for $27. With the tank it was $37
