It's not exactly a 'ban on vapor shops'. Here's what I just read about it:

"The moratorium prohibits any new smoke shop or drug paraphernalia retailer from selling electronic cigarettes for the next 45 days. The temporary ban may be extended for two years."

The way I read that any existing retailers are good to keep selling e cig stuff. Is this correct?

That was my understanding. Existing B&M's won't be affected unless they decide to ban them outright.

so theres a 45 day ban on vapor shops in seal beach, ca so the city can do research about vaping to see how harmful it is... and they could push the ban farther to up to a 1 year... hopefully it doesnt come to the inland empire ca.

There is already a thread about this in the Legislative News Forum

If you are concerned about the precedent it sets, I STRONGLY urge you to join CASAA and then join us at the next hearing on Sept 23rd.

You have to wonder who they are going to be using to research, and why they aren't looking at current or previous research. As 45 days doesn't really give you much time to run any kind of clinical study..

the 45 days is to give them time to read and review available information and to "research" the intricacies of the issues for themselves... not conduct their own studies.

E-cigs are unsafe yet CA doctors are all on board for combusting "other" plant matter and inhaling it for medical purposes?

This is a common misconception that actually helped us kill SB648 the senate bill that would have banned eCig use in many locations, state-wide. (the wording was such that it also would have banned other vaporizers as well as eCigs)

The truth is many medical patients use vaporizers(that are similar to but different than ours) as the same health benefits of vaping eLiquid vs combustion of tobacco exist for vaping dry plant matter vs combustion of said medicinal products.

Yes some people have medical cards and burn... and there is corruption in the process of obtaining a medical card(just like any other regulated product)... but true medical use seems to now rely heavily on vaporizers.
