So this is just a theory okay. Don't bash on me because I'm thinking deep lol.

I see a lot of bans popping up on eCigs and ejuice. Some stores are getting a 45-day ban which will eventually turn into 2 years, they will be out of business by then. Officials saying that it is potentially more harmful than actual cigarettes (...?).

So I think that, the government is actually seeing a decrease in tobacco sales due to the uprise of e-cigarettes. tobacco regulates a ton of money every year, since ecigs, they have probably lost millions. What other way to fix that than ban the problem itself? A big chunk of vapers will go back to cigs and sales will go up.

What do you think?

I think it is mostly the tobacco industry that is freaking out and pressuring government to ban Vape products to help protect their profits.

There is also a large faction of people who are so anti anything they do not do, that they are actively pushing legislation to ban everything and anything.

I live in Southern California. There is a little rich town you have probably heard of, Calabasas, where they have actually banned all tobacco smoking everywhere in the city, including in your own home! In your own home! That you own! They discussed, but did not try, banning smoking in autos driving through the city!

Anti-smoking campaigns have latched onto Vaping as well. I think it has a lot to do with the term e-cigarette, which I try to never use. To them, it looks like smoking, so they have deemed it bad.

I think they can't stop me as long as I can solder. I could make my own equipment if I really wanted to I'm sure; it's not like I've never done electrical work before. I'm confident I could make something safe that works. It's just so much more convenient to buy my own. Work is hard lol. But like I'd even have to. How are they going to outlaw a battery? Just as they can't ban the act of vaping where ever smoking is allowed. Not in non-residential buildings, 25 feet. Whatever. They can tell us where we can and can't, but they can't stop us from doing it. Basically it's nicotine liquid we're talking about.

I could live with 0 nic, as long as I could find a way to make one with a decent throat hit (it's why I don't vape under 12mg currently....it's not so much the nic as that nice tickle that I like). I could even grow and reduce my own nicotine if I really wanted to. It's not like reducing a suspension is hard or anything. Might take a few tries. You'd need safety equipment, but the process in and of itself wouldn't be too hard I don't think.

I've heard that theory before and always found the idea that BT lobbying was responsible more credible than the tax revenue loss as motivation. Now that all the major tobacco companies are developing or acquiring their own e-cigs though, I don't think I buy that either. I think the ANTZ are just clueless and have been fed a bunch of junk science

Some people love a nanny state. I personally live in a semi free state and the government can pry my PV from my cold dead hands along with other items I own. I am to a point that peaceful non compliance will be my response to government trying to run my life. So as long as they don't go door to door pulling us out at gun point like we allowed in Boston we may keep our private freedoms at least in the US.

This is the sort of law that is unenforceable in the first place and, secondly, would never hold up in court.

10 points for this nice words, I know what you mean!
However, de facto Europe(EU) regulating e-nic and hardware formally next week. Not forbidden, but will be in the hand of tobacco and pharma industry in future, which is equivalent to banish. I hope will not spill over to the FDA/USA.
I hate paternalism on the part of the State,....alcohol is allowed but banish e-cig.

Does Germany even take the EU seriously anymore? German friends of mine would love for Germany to leave the Union.

I'm more familiar with the Czech Rebublic, though, and they mostly ignore EU regulations. smoking is allowed basically everywhere, as is gambling, certain types of recreational dru... and prostitution. Oh, and the Koruna is still the currency of choice, over the Euro. E-nic is unregulated, and never will be, save for age restrictions. It is basically the last free state in Europe.

....mostly ignore EU regulations. .....
Of course, all EU states have their own rules, but official EU-regulations must be implemented sooner or later. I assume in Germany in mid-2014, the e-cig market will be another...., latest year 2016 in all EU-states.
All e-liquids and hardware need a drug approval, this approvals cost millions of dollars and lots of time. Who can afford that?=tobacco- and pharma industry. I'm depressed.........

Officially, maybe, but in reality, my Czech friends say the smoking bans and other regulations will never be enforced. after the Nazis and rule by the Soviet Union, they are still in no mood to be told what to do by others.

Yes, CZ has democratic history, respect! I live in Bavaria and have 1h with car to Cheb/Eger in CZ, I'll come.:toast:
But remember, a black market will affect the quality and price of e-liquids,... that is my fear.

That's beautiful country out there. Last visit, my wife and I rented a car and spent a day touring Bohemia on the way to Dresden. Hopefully we'll be moving to Prague permanently in the next several years.

A nation that spent decades under the Soviets already knows how to implement a 2nd, or black economy. Price may be a bit higher, but I imagine quality will still be top notch. Being Shengen and no passport control, you could take a holiday weekend in Prague, load the car up on supplies for a year.

I'm betting that would pass the muster if it was ever challenged. I'm betting it's one of those "hey look everyone we did something" laws that will never ever be enforced.

It is the sort of thing that would make me video myself smoking and send copies of the video to the police, the city council, etc. to challenge it. At the end of the video, I would invite them to come and take it from me....
