You should have posted this in General.

I'll briefly give you my experience.

Started with a 510 kit using the supplied HIGH carts. It did not take, so I just went back to cigs. Decided to give it another shot and orderd some 24mg juice and went from smoking a pack down to about 5. I was still having very mild nic fits, but instead of smoking I just taped my 510 to my face. When I really really wanted a cig I had one. After a few days no more nic fits. I slowly (over a week or so) started to cut back on the cigs. Finally got down to one. Then one day I just decided to see if I could go a whole day without a cig. It was not a problem at this point.

I still smoke cigs between classes at college, but no where else. I do not have a problem with not smoking cigs. Once I get an adapter for using karts I am going to cut out cigs during these times (with a 510 you have good and bad vaping days, and dripping looks suspicious).

I suggest you don't think about all out quiting cigs. Slowly reduce your cig usage. It is much easier. Your body will slowly adjust to the lower nic intake you are receiving from ecigs. Basically there is no reason to go cold turkey. Why make it more stressful.

One thing that took me a week or so get used to is the slow uptake of nicotine from ecigs. For me this was the big issue. I was so used to instant gratification from a cig.

Here's my experience. I smoked a pack a day of Marlboro red 100s. I went with the strongest nic cart I could find and that turned out to be a 36mg cart (Kamel). I also have 24mg carts (thanks Steve), which help me vape all day, but if I decide I really need a nic fix I vape on the 36mg carts for awhile. I have no desire to put a cig in my mouth, much less smoke it. Make sure your batteries are fully charged, I've found that's absolutely necessary to get the full vapor, throat hit, and flavor from your carts. I noticed that even though I was getting nic, I really desired the throat hit and weight of the vapor like a regular cig and had to make sure the batteries were charged up.

My friend/co-worker has also had a similar experience. He went from a pack a day of Marlboro 27s or Camels to nothing using the same method. He tried to smoke a cig the first night, but only got two puffs off it before he trashed it. Ecigs aren’t for everyone and I’m sure everyone has a different experience, but I would try upping your nic dosage and making sure you get the full experience by charging your batteries up. You might also want to get flavors that are close to regular cigs like Kamel, Cowboy (Marlboro), ect. – that’s what I crave at this point in my journey.

I was the opposite, I couldn't give up the cigs until I found a flavor that I really loved - cappuccino. I was vaping the tobacco flavors and did cut down from a pack a day to about 3-4 a day. Once I found cappuccino, the cigs didn't even taste good to me and I didn't want a smoke. I find that the 18mg worked best for me - 24mg if I really needed a kick, and at night I vape the 0mg - 8mg cartos. I think everyone is different and you just have to find what works best for you. Good luck - if I can do it, I know anyone can! ;)
