My volcano inferno (ego) has 5 click protection. You press and hold the button while you take a draw (manual). If you click the button 5 times it turns the battery off and you can pocket it without it firing in your pocket. Five more clicks and it's back on. I think you are confused.

The five click protection is just for turning the battery on or off. You usually want to turn a battery off when you place it in a pocket or purse or something... so that the battery cannot activate if the button is accidentally pressed.

5 clicks, back "on" and ready to use. It is a nice feature actually, I have a KGO and I really like the 5 click on/off protection feature. When I put it away in my purse, I always turn it off so I don't have to worry that something will press the button and make it fire.

Hope this helps. The KGO is a nice unit. I don't know what you have been using, but I started with the KGO and have been extremely pleased.

And when you buy the KGO, make sure the picture of it is with a black box with real big KGO letters that have shades of blue in the lettering, not the black box with like a gold crown picture on it. The other ones are sort of knockoff Riva's even though they call them KGO's, and I don't think they have the 5 click button protection. My friend accidentally got one of those.

Howdy all you ECF folks out there!
Yep, liking that 5-click on/off idea on the KGO. Probably save battery life not just pocket/purse & thigh.
I am SUPER excited as I am awaiting the arrival of my new SLB KGO (with cartomizers) kit from DCV & I expect it to be here today or Monday. Only been seriously vaping since 02/20/2012 & I've learned so much here. You veterans need to know that there is quite a learning curve on this vaping stuff for us newbies.
I also ordered an extra KGO kit for my step-son who is recovering from surgery. He will not be able to smoke analogs for the next 3 months. Sounds like a good time to quit the stinkies, huh?
He is in a neck brace & bedridden for a few weeks, so I also ordered some pre-filled cartomizers for him. After he recovers, he can order some juice & start filling his own cartos.
Well thanks for being here.

Thanks jacq. He's not too interested in smokes right now as his throat is recovering from having that tube stuck down it during surgery. But you & I both know how that craving pops up again. As for me I quit smoking for 25 years. Yes 25 YEARS! I picked up & I got hooked again for 10 more years. So I just want him to have an alternative if he should need it.

It's a valid question. 5 clicks makes it hard to accidentally turn on in your pocket. We guys find that an ecig sometimes fires in our pocket when we sit down. 5 clicks is second nature once you do it a few times.

Check out the Provari tutorial for an exercise in clicking. Still, once you get the sequence it's pretty easy, too. The alternative would be multiple buttons like an MP3 player.

Thanks everyone, that clears that up, I feel rather stupid now.

You're not the first person who thought that. I did too when they first came out until my neighbor bought one and I discovered it was just an on/off feature. Neither of us are stupid...just, as my daughter calls me, challenged...LOL.
