One man's subjective opinion, but how long are you letting these liquids rest? When I got my sample pack the Fifth Rank was just.....rank to me, but after a month's rest it was surprisingly, shockingly good. It had significantly improved, with the harsher flavors taking a back seat and the vanilla/cream notes really coming forward to smooth it out. I also noticed the Mixology liquids were bottled far more recently than the Signature liquids, necessitating the rest time even more.:2c:

Is that a month rest with the top on of off some nights?

Nope. When I get a new liquid, I take the top off and let it sit 1-2 hours, whether there's an alcohol or 'perfumey' smell or not. Then if it's a new (to me) flavor, I give it a taste on the same day, record my notes, and then let it sit a month. No uncapping, though I do give it the occasional (every 2-3 days) shake. After a month I just give it a shake before tasting again.

Any time I fill a tank, I shake it first.

Do you do this in a dark area of your house or does it not mater?

Definitely dark, and preferably cool. Heat and sunlight both affect liquids. Sunlight especially can degrade nicotine over time, so if you're giving the liquids a month or more its best to keep them in a relatively cool, dark place. You don't have to go crazy with it and find a dank corner of a basement, but a drawer or shelf away from direct sunlight is a good idea.

Luckily enough, Five Pawns ships their liquid in cardboard cylinders. It not only enhances the 'shelf appeal' of their liquids and supports their boutique-brand image, it keeps sunlight off the bottles. Just find a shelf or drawer in a relatively climate-controlled room and you'll be golden!

Wow - I've never had to do this with any of my Five Pawns juices! There was one that had a later 'born on' date that I did leave alone for a week. But apart from that they're usually properly steeped - at least for my taste!

That's the beauty of vaping. Taste is so subjective, three different people tasting the same liquid through the same setup are going to have three very unique experiences. I've also noticed with Five Pawns, the different lines tend to come with different 'born on' dates, so some show up already having had time to rest and mature.

what is the oldest born on date you found? In Santa Monica they are all less than a month old. Curious if it is different across the country.

I purchased the sample pack of Mixology flavors in 12mg and have tried three so far, all in cartos:

Lucena -- Meh... I like peach but this one doesn't have enough flavor to make it interesting. Won't buy a bigger bottle.

Perpetual Check -- Very good, the combo of Black Currant liqueur, lemon zest, etc. works for me. A likely repeat buy in larger size.

Castle Long -- Wow, now that's what I was hoping for! I'm big for coconut, which is the flavor that stands out most for me. The rest of the flavors perform as an accompanying chorus that make up the harmonious whole. This juice has impressed me as few others have done in the almost five years I've been vaping. Must. Have. More.

I loved Lucena, found Castle Long very sweet and the coconut a tad too pronunced (maybe too roasted), and Perpetual Check tasted a bit too grassy... Funny how we all have different taste buds !

I did order a bottle of Lucena and one of CL (for those times when I crave a few puffs of sugar. This one should last me a long time),

Curious to see what you'll think of 64...

Fifth Rank is next up. Sixty-Four will be the last one I try... grapefruit with a touch of dill does not sound inviting to me.

Tried it again at a B&M today. It's dill with a touch of grapefruit.

I also tried 5th rank - I love lemon, and this juice is really nice, original. Not sweet at all (there's a reason why I love lemons lol). BUT I have other citrus juices that are also pretty good, so I can't justify the price of 5th rank.

What other citrus ejuices do you like that are cheaper? I like standard's Dead Mans Party and Virgin Vapors sweet summer lemonade but they are around 5 pawns prices.

As a kid I loved reading Bill the Cat comics, it was in the Sunday edition for years, until it was cancelled and something else was put in his spot.
