I hear you. My teeth have moved since I had braces... but I was never offered the option of a sexy retainer--instead, once the braces came off, my orthodontist gave me the foul tasting rubber bite shield that I was supposed to use when I sleep. It had two holes in the front for me to breathe through. That lasted all of a week....

Mine was hard plastic and I had good intentions wearing them to bed every night, but in the morning, I would find them out of my mouth and usually under my back. Those things did smell nasty, though.
