anyone working on a 5v atomizer straight to mini-usb plug mod?

i mean no battery. a super-light pass through as it were. then one would plg the usb into a battery that also just sported a min usb in and out.

any technical challenges here? Is is hard to protect the usb connector from dripping juices? why did they all go the metal route.

oaklandCA,
I was successful in getting the mini B USB in the tube end of a 510 bat connector. Soldered it into the tube with about half of the USB "housing" protruding. Left just enough "flat area" on top of the mini B to epoxy a tactile switch, that was re purposed from a Laptop that i cannibalized for just such an occasion. Works perfect to plug into a Mini B USB to a A USB A cord. Also straight into the "Digipower JS1-V3". Am getting 5.1 V from my PC and also my TomTom car charger. No problems with getting wet, as the 510 bat connection is sealed. Been vaping on it exclusively for three weeks... with no worries.

Can I help?

All USB ports supply about 5V. But to vape a Joye 510 atty at 5V you need about 2.3A (2300mA). I don't believe any computer ports can provide anywhere near that.

Sitting here vaping it as I type. Believe me it does work!Good satisfying amount of vapoer, in my opinion... every bit as much as I get out of the same atty on my 510 manual battery. Just ohmed it out at exactly 2.500. This is on a HP laptop, to boot.

FYI, I do have an atty that ohms out at 9.5 that the USB has trouble keeping up with, but still I get some vap. Maybe just lucky, I guess.

It is very hard (if not impossible) to find a computer USB port that supplies over 0.5A. You can get USB hubs that plug into the wall that will supply 2A (generally intended for charging things).
