So if I use that, what would I use for a battery holder, or how else would I wire the positive and negative? The only mod scheme I familiar with is the puck. I have no experience working without a wired battery holder.

Hi Vinny, You "could" use a cheapo flashlight for this mod(or an 18650) enclosure, Look up... wait a minute. here> How to build a flashlight e cig mod - YouTube

This would be an inexpensive mod to get your feet wet with. I just picked up one of the lights from autozone for $2.75. Dollar stores carry them and most of the cheapo 3aaa lights will be a candidate. I am doing a mod similar to that one in the vid but with a boost regulator to have adjustability but with an 18490 battery..... definately if the mod bug has bitten you, you will mod something so might as well be something useable and easy enough to mod. Good luck. Happy vaping.

I actually built a flashlight mod from a dollar tree flashlight. I was pretty proud of myself as there was so little space and I managed to maintain the 3AAA battery holder. Doesn't vape all that well though using only 3AAA batteries. But all I did was solder a wire to positive end of the circulary battery holder and one to negative end of the holder. Would that be how I would do it without a holder? Just solder wires from the battery contacts?

using only 3AAA batteries.

That space = a 14500 or 18500. An 18500 should provide decent performance.

You could also try 3 of these in the 3 AAA carrier as it stands.

Bpi 4 x NiZn Ni ZN 1.6V 1000mAh AAA Rechargeable Battery AA AAA Charger | eBay

How reliable they are over the long haul is questionable (mine are Powergenix), but they come off the charger @ 1.85V and seem to handle high drain loads very well.

Note the nominal voltage of a NiMH is 1.2V, these are 1.6V.

Hi Vinny. I would avoid soldering to any Li-ion battery. The link to the video above shows how to do just what you want to do. The negative end of the battery is conducted through the body of the light itself. The positive is carried throught the pushbutton to the atomizer center connector. The video is only about 10 minutes. Take a look and see if it seems like something you want to try. And yes you should be using either an 18500 or and 18650 battery for this mod depending on what you can make room for. No regular batteries please.
