ive been using a volcano inferno with carto tank for 5 weeks. haven't touched evil since. the inferno is a little messy. but nice vapes, till the cart clogs or i get dry hits or it burns. yuk. wonder if this is common with carto tanks? got a cheap ego 1100mah with ce5 on top as a back up.. didn't like it so I gave it to my sister. I've tried to do a lot of research to get myself up to speed with the art of vaping. have some boge f17 tanks coming with slotted carts. then I got a little more knowledge and find everyone is really happy with kanger protank2 so ive ordered one of them and some coils and a eVIC. then I get even further down the rabbit hole to find it's actually all about mech mods!?!? so I just ordered a smok magneto today and a kick and vapesafe fuse to throw in and a RDA/RBA?, wick mesh and kathnal wire.. i'm hoping I made the right decisions. advice? feedback? am I on the right track? I don't want to go much farther down the rabbit hole.

Personally, I think I would have stopped at the evic and the protank. Tried that out first before moving on. There are so many available options and everyone has their favorites. Only you can decide what works best for you. I personally like the Innokin SVD with either a protank or an iClear 30. Good Luck!

Welcome to ecf and congrats on making the switch.
You need to make sure you don't run the tank totally dry before refilling it. The dry hits are from no juice getting to the wicking parts of the cartomizer. And yeah, bad taste. When it clogs, usually when you refill, just take a tissue and hold it at the connection end and blow out the excess just enough to ensure the air chamber in the middle of the cartomizer is open. the ce5 has its coils and wick at the top instead of the bottom, and you always seem to have to turn those upside down to keep juice to them.
The kanger protank 2 is about as easy as you can get. The flavor will become better on the 2nd or third tank. I think the eVic is a vv so you can have fun playing with the vv. Then you can dial the battery to the best spot for the juice to taste its best. Not heard of the magneto but have kicks for my silver bullet device and they work pretty well. sorry I have not tried the RDA/RBA but some members rave about it.

good luck and let us know how it is going.

:)

Holy snockers, dude...slow down :D It's going to take some trial and error to get your preferred way of vaping figured out, but you should give each option a little time before moving on/up to something else. Genesis-type devices can be very frustrating and time consuming to get setup properly...I would stick to the ProTank and/or a carto tank for awhile. You are doing the right thing if you are staying away from analogs; be patient and vape on!

I agree with what some of the other people have said on here. Slow down, take it easy, and find what WORKS for you. Mechanical mods are different than vv mods like the evic, but the bottom line, is that they all do basically the same thing....they create vapor.
It all boils down to what YOU like, and what works best for YOU. Different people like totally different things, and what works for one, will be a miserable fail for another.
For instance, I do not like the Pro-tank, and have really been enjoying the DCT tanks recently.....but if you would have asked me three months ago, I would have told you that nothing beats the wicks on the Vivi Nova. Tastes change, and fads come and go. The real deal is finding your own "happy place" in vaping, and enjoy that. Also, You Tube is invaluable, as well as this forum.
Hope this helps!

yeah I did jump the gun a bit, ordering the mech before the evic has even arrived yet. im sure i'll be extremely happy with the evic. just found this forum recently as I've found myself with a bit of downtime... seems like the evic protank combo is pretty popular from what ive read in the last few days, i'm doing great with the vapes even though im not happy with this volcano inferno, it did the trick converting me. as soon as I got it. haven't looked back. surprised myself how easy and quickly.

it was a bit of a learning curve going from nothing to having the carto tank with no prior advice. I think my major problem was a combo of having been a heavy smoker and the single punch hole in the cart being too small. since I figured that out ive been keeping the tank above half all the time and topping the cart quite often. yeah im going to fast. that's mainly because I normally live in Melbourne cbd and split my time between work, bars, friends, my partner.. but then just now ive spent the last 10 days in rural Victoria with 3 yapping dogs and a fridge full of food and a computer. so ive had time on my hands to get my head into it and i'm stocking up for when I get home and have no time to think again for about 6months. LOL I just went full life story. also investing left overs of tax return into my divorce from cigarettes. I just entered my last year of my 20's, 2 months ago. that was what put the idea in my head to give the ecig a go

You're speaking my language. I've ordered more mechs before the others even arrived. I have a balls to the wall attitude with what ever I do. Just one thing I want you to know is if you're using the kick2 you don't need the 2cent fusem the kick has built in protection. But still hang on to it in case you ever go true mechanical. Besides depending on what mech you're using you'll never fit both devices and a battery unless you use a 18350. Hopefully you'll do your homework on batteries too. Have fun but be safe first. Oh yea, one huge mistake I made was putting a battery in upside down and killed my kick. What a sad sad day that was.

Well, you sound like you are doing pretty good. Just remember, on 2nd tank refill and after(until carto is too nasty to continue using it) just fill the tank not the cartomizer. Then you may not have the clogs anymore...
:)

thanks, i'll have to give that a try. I've got one spare cart to last me the week! hopefully your advice will keep it clear and tasty!

Well, I had a heart attack when I was 38 years old from smoking for 20 years. So, you're doing the right thing!!!
yikes, sorry to hear that. I found myself in a tricky health spot too, 10 months ago I fractured my skull and gave myself a hematoma. so I got my skull cut open, excavated the bleed off my brain... fully recovered now but during one of the many scans they did on my brain they found a unrelated dormant aneurysm. so i've got a ticking time bomb in my brain... "so it goes" Kurt Vonnegut.

I was wondering about fitting the kick and the 2cent. I do have one 18350 in the order. also have a 18500. and two 18650. With the kick having its own fuse it makes me wonder if the 2cent would save the kick?

Congrats on the switch! A good piece of advice would be to research before you buy. I read up on everything. Don't just buy a bunch of stuff before you know what works.

thanks for the congrats and advice. I have been doing a lot of research and my head is filling with info. I did buy a whole bunch of stuff just recently, I guess I've got to that point where I have the science understood but the rest is just personal preferances and other peoples opinions so now I really have to experience it for myself.

I have learnt that vaping is infectious, got my dad and my sister vaping and off TTC's with very little effort. but they're less inclined to research and make these purchase decisions so I have to compensate, basically vaping for 3.

I've tried T3's, ProTank II, RDA and AGA T2. I keep coming back to carto tanks. They will clog over time as the coil gunks up. I use an unsealed 510/510 adapter when the draw gets tight for more air flow:
V2 510 Shorty Extension- Unsealed

To get a little more use out of a carto towards the end of it's life you can ream it out with these which may or maybe not work:
Get A Deep Dental Cleaning with Brush Picks: Soft-Picks® 80 ct. | GUM | Sunstar Americas, Inc.
Just be careful of dry hits because doing this will dry out the coils.

Yeah I think I do like the carto tank combo when its fresh. And I'm getting some boges in the mail soon. Some cartos with two holes and some slotted. Ive heard the wadding material is less densely packed. I think I'll be happy with them. I just dont like being stuck where I am today. One spare carto to last me 5 days. And a lot of free time in which I find myself wanting to chain vape... and i ran out of 18mg juice. Only have 12mg juices left.
And as a Australian vaper I have to order my nicotine ejuices from overseas!?!?!?!
