I'm kind of at wits end on atty's here and need some advice :).

Before I got a bottom feeder model I had always bought cheapie atties, removed the bridge and wick, and they worked wonderful for months and months. I've heard some steller reviews of the ikenvape 510s, so I've been giving them a go.

It seems like they work great for about a week, then performance (dramatically) drops off to the point where I hardly get any vape at all. To top that off, they almost always get a burnt taste. I've been vaping for nearly 2 years now and haven't run into this problem before. I've noticed that I cannot remove the wick from these models without breaking the coil, learned that the hard way.

So far I've tried, Vodka soaks, Iso soaks, ultrasonic cleaners, and nothing restores the vaping as a cleanly unboxed one. The longest I've had one last is about 2 weeks before its just unusable. The only thing I used to do is dry burns with my cheapie attys, but with the wick in place on this one I can't dry burn it without burning the wick.

Any advice? What am I doing wrong here. Does anyone dewick/debridge these?

Edit: Atty's in question are IKV 1.8ohm 510s with no modifications, bridge and wick in place. Typically they only last me a week, shortest has been 4 days, longest has been 2 weeks. Using a REO Mini with a IMR High drain 14500 3.7v battery.

While dry burning will drastically shorten the life of any atomizer, it shouldn't burn the wick. If there is any juice/gunk on the wick when you dry burn it will char that.

Try doing a vodka soak for 30 min. Agitate the cup/container to get the stuff moving, and then soak it for an additional 30 minutes. Then blow out as hard as you can from the battery connector, let it sit for a couple minutes to fully dry - then prime and vape.

I vodka soaked 2 problem atomizer's last night. Both are less than a week old. After soaking, no changes. One is very airy, gets extremely hot, pops and sizzles, but produces no vapor unless its nearly bone dry, and then it produces VERY little vapor. The other has a horrible burnt taste, and produces very little vapor, and the atomizer itself gets very hot while burning. Both are reading at 1.8-2.0 ohms. Putting a cheapy Joye on my ego produces plumes of vapor, and its going on 2 months old.

Both of these atomizers are less than a week old. I've gone through about 8 atomizers in the past month now, and at 8 bucks a pop I'd really expect more. Needless to say, I'm very unhappy with the quality of these so far.

I haven't had much luck with any of Ikenvape's attys, which is a total bummer. I always hear great things about them. I have tried them a few times with poor results. Guess I will stick with my main supplier.

Two things first dry burning IMHO is a terrible thing to do to an atty. Cars don't run with out gas. Also u don't sit and just run the engine hot without actually moving. Basically attys need juice to work it's their gas with out e juice they just redline and stress. Second I never ever clean my atties. I get about 3 months average on life and that isn't there dead or taste burnt they just drop off In performance. That being said I use a vv device and only fire my attys at exactly 3.7 for lr. Or around 7 to 8 watts on any resistance. I find its the best for flavor vapor TH wih out stressing it. It could be you running them slightly drier than you would. Ikv atties dont have that super retched burnt hit when dry. The flavors just drops off.
Now idk because of bottom feeding if u would switch styles but I find the ikv 901 atties to be the best IMO. They last have the best flavor throat hit combination and are in my exorince extremely resilient. I mean I feel asleep with my mod in the bed and woke up to the atty burning my leg. I though it was ruined and yet I just blew out the remaining juice and topped it off .... working perfect.
Finally what juice are you using as u could just be usig an atty killer or like I said earlier a strong flavor that lingers so it still taste good even when needing to be topped off. And finally I do things a little different her blowing my aties out. Most people say from the battery end but I do it the exact opposite I blow in through the drip tip end and paper towel the battery connector
Hope some of this helps

I blow mine out from the mouth end as well. IMO it ensures you are blowing crud out of the main wick (which is the mesh) with fairly clean liquid, not forcing crud into the mesh.
Wow, I have never thought of it that way, that does totally make sense, I am gonna start doing it that way now, thanks for the tip guys.

True 5card lol completely forgot bout them. Hopefully they can apply the new carbon nanotube tech to electric cars... Might acctually make them viable with the almost 100% double of energy potential. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't want a PV with it. Lasting the whole week on a single charge without a humongous batt ;)
