So I just learned how to measure my attys... I have this one that was never very good from the start. It's still fairly new - few hours of vaping on it - I measure it at 7.2 Ohms. What could be the issue? Can I fix it? It's a Joye 510 Atty.
Unless you're really good, you can't fix it. The Chinese manufacturing quality control isn't the best. You got a bad one. You can try contacting the vendor.

None of what you did would reduce the ohms. It is set by the length and gauge of the wire making up the coil. In your efforts to remove the wick you may have shorted out part of the coil by causing the loops to touch and in effect shortening the coil and thus reducing the ohms.
