510 batteries

I ordered a couple of 510 starter kits from here and I was wondering if I need to charge the batteries first before I use them or can I just use them right away and charge when they die? Also do they need a long cycle charge to make sure I get the best battery life?

My understanding is (and what I did) was that the batteries come with some charge in them. If you don't need to use it right away I would go ahead and charge them fully before use. However, it is not necessary to do so to ensure long battery life - per the comments I've read about lithium-ion batteries characteristics.

The factory says to charge for 8 hours the first use, then use for 20 minutes and recharge another 1 hour.

In my experience this makes no difference. I have used them as I got them from the factory and I have done the factory recommended charge. I find no change in the charge or life of the battery
