Hello, I just recently got back into e-cigs after having some back luck with the crummy 7-11 e-cigs back in the summertime. Now I got a real joye 510 for a local shop(they clam to the the first and only vapor bar in the states and they look legit). Now they don't carry extended batteries(at least not yet). So, I did a google search, but there is a lot of stuff that comes up, & I am not sure what to get and from where. I just want a good extended battery that will last me 5-7 hours while still using the standard 510 charger if possible.

I have read that slight higher volts means a slightly hotter atty, and some of the extended batteries are rated at like 4 volts, while standard battery is 3.7. Is that really true that higher volts means hotter atty? Thanks

re the charger: you can use a standard charger but it takes along time (150 mah is standard the ego/inferno charger 420 just shy of 3x faster)--i do use the 150 standard charger cables but just charge em overnight (yaeah i know some people say we should sit there watching just in case of fire--but please who has time to sit and watch a battery charge.)

the best battery (non mod) in my experience is the 750 mah Ego pass through bat. Last 10 hours can be charged from a simple usb mini cable and can also serve as a pass through. Its big but not huge, very convenient very reliable and not that expensive.

+1 on that. Loved that thing when I was in my Ego phase. I'm all about mods now, but still use the 510 threading. An Ego is what you're looking for, and that PT battery is the shizz-nit, lol. Note that, while you can charge an Ego on a 510 charger (if you have an adapter for it... the Ego won't fit into the hole on a standard 510 charger without an extension piece), it will take a long, long time to charge. The 510 batteries can NOT be used on the Ego charger, and can be damaged or even catch fire (or go "bang") if you try.

If you're sticking with proprietary batteries and not talking mods the Riva and Ego batteries are most popular and come in several sizes from 650 mah and up. Any of those should give you the vaping time in between charges you're looking for.

As far as voltage output to get at 3.7v or above for any length of time you'll need to go with a mod.

The eGo and eGo mega batteries would probably be your best bet since they are a totally hassel free conversion, but I m ight suggest getting the little atomizer cone cover with it or it may look a bit strange.... (the cone is like 3 dollars). The idea of just buying an eGo usb passthrough above is actually probably the best idea of all since you not only get a great 750mah battery but also a usb passthrough!

There IS a 1000 mAh eGo PT battery as well. Cignot carries it. I love my eGo PT's...they're so convenient. Plug in when sitting in front of a computer or in a car (if it needs a charge...you can vape at the same time), and unplug and go when you're on the move. Simple system, and the charge lasts a long time. For the car, you need either a USB plug or a cigarette lighter adapter that turns it into a USB plug.

If you have two, then you're really set.

Lots of people say they shouldn't be plugged directly into the computer because they could damage it, so you can get a wall USB plug...and plug right in there.

Here's the link for Cignot. Click on the "Choose your eGo Passthru Color" drop down box on the right for the colors and the 1000 mAH batteries..

The 510/Ego batteries are all the same volts as far as I know. Sometimes when a battery is newly charged it might read a bit higher. But I think their normal volts is actually lower than 3.7? Maybe 3.4? Somebody correct me if I am wrong. ANd I think KR808D-1 is full 3.7v? Seems to run hotter than my 510 using the same ohms cartos.

Heat is a function of voltage combined with the ohms resistance of the atomizer of cartomizer. The problem is that slim batteries usually can't handle LR parts - they suck the power too fast and can damage the weaker electronics of the slim batteries.

You can get different charge length by getting different 510-threaded batteries, not different voltage (though one person claimed Riva is a full 3.7 - can anyone verify that?)
standard 510 - 180mah
mega xl 510 - 280mah
Ego and Riva 510 - 650mah and higher

With the Ego and Riva (the fat-battery models) you can use Low Resistance (LR) parts (attys and cartos) and THAT will give you a hotter hit. Those parts could damage a slim 510 battery but the Ego and Riva batteries have beefier electronics and can deal with the increased current draw.

Re PTs - most will not work right on a battery-charger USB to AC. Buy a 2amp USB to AC or one sold specifically for the PT you have. I use NewEgg's Rosewill 4-port USB ro AC (I think the model is RUC6181). When you aren't using a PT on it then you can charge batteries on it.
