I'm new but I have a 510. Been vaping 9 days. It's only that short if you non-stop vape or vape a whole lot in that time. I have had mine last up to 4-6 hrs If I'm only hitting it when I need it. You could probably make it last even more.

My wife only takes 1 to work. She has a usb charger that came with my kit but she has gone her whole work day with just the one and no charging.

Just depends on how much you're gonna vape. My first couple days they only lasted a couple hrs though but I was vaping a lot more then.

All I'll add is that as I've owned my 510's the battery life continues to decrease over time - perfectly normal for a LiOn battery. I used to be able to cycle through 2 batts throughout the day with no issues. Now I need to work 3 to be sure I'm not caught. So my choice now is to buy a pass-thru, and/or a PCC, and/or some new Batts (I would go for the TW extended batts). Either way it's lookin like alot of cash to keep this type of unit (the 510) going - and it'll be an ongoing expense (new batts at $10 - $15 a pop).

I'm thinking of cutting my losses at this point and going to a Janty Stick V2 (off the shelf high capacity batts that are cheap + a built-in Pass thru & batt charger) or maybe an SD.

Bottom line is that keeping a 510 healthy and viable is an ongoing expense that you have to be aware of.

I thought it was just my imagination. My 510 batteries seem to be slowly holding less of a charge. However at night I do most of my vaping through a passthrough and I plan on getting a PCC very soon. I think once I get a PCC I will not really incur that much expense anymore than about average. I am a HEAVY vapor and cycle through about 7 batteries a day and then hook up the passthrough. However, even though my batteries at least seem to be having a shorter life, I just take my charger with me in the mornings and all is well. Going out at night is a totally different story. PCC is a must and on my list.

Awesome, thanks ! So, I think it is safe to assume the 901 has a longer battery. Am I right ?

The 901 batteries and 510 batteries are very similar in size...so it's a safe assumption that they have about the same mA of stored power. I think the reason why the 510 has shorter battery life is because the atomizer draws more current than the 901, which would explain why the atomizer on the 510 runs hotter, you experience greater (warmer) throat hit, and quite possibly, better vapor production.

510 battery life flat out sucks! Nothing more nothing less... However, 510 is my favorite model! That being said, PCC is a MUST, 2-3 Battery rotation is a MUST and finally... When you get sick of the up keep of the battery rotation, a battery mod is a MUST!

Ok, that was a bit dramatic (but not really) and if you are a heavy vaper, those instructions are pretty solid. If not, then you can get some decent milage off of a single battery.

Over all... I find myself swaping batterys as soon I see that lil red light go off on my PCC, ONLY becuase I got caught slippin several times and had a half charged battery and a dead one.... Not very comforting on a night out drinking... It DOES get a bit draining after awhile to stay on battery watch 24/7.

Just my experences, hope this helps!

Oh, I do own a 901 also and you get 2-3x the battery life, however, thats comparing a auto 901 to a manual 510 (not really comparing apples to apples there...)

Have to agree with chief and I have only had it a couple days, I got a PCC and will use it tomorrow so can say something about it then :D I read what everyone had to say and so far I see the 501 being premier and having the PCC for sure. I will check in tomorrow and say what I think about the PCC for that self same 501.

Yeah I'm getting real tired of the battery watch duty on the 510, just pre-ordered a silver bullet mod for the 510, can't wait to get it. I figure with the cost of replacement batteries, the mod is pretty cost effective and even if its not, I won't care as I'll be getting better vapor and huge battery life. I love the 510 but hate the stock battery life, specially when I'm drinking, seems like I can kill a battery in 30 minutes.

As I understand it the battery is a 180maH battery ie it will supply 180 milli amps for an hour. However the 510 has about 2 ohm resistance and a battery voltage of 3.7v so that give a current of 1.85 amps which is 10 times the amp-hour current given so it will last 1/10 of an hour, or about 6 minutes when the button is pressed and held.

So there you have it, you get 6minutes of vaping time!!

I note in a thread refered to in this one some guy reckoned he got 4.5 minutes vaping from a battery. So it's in the tight 'ball park'.

Of course the resistance of the atomiser is approximate and also the battery has it's own internal resistance, which would lower that 6mins slightly.

2.5 ohms ;) Both my attys. So that's a 1.5A of current. But yes - 6min is a good assumption, being that everything chinese is overrated. :)

any body seen the cartridge tips that AREN'T the mess material yet? It be nice to have like a mico-spong or something. I find the mesh (fiber) material in the 510 cartridge just plain sucks and requires filling before every smoke. I have 3 510 units and tons of the cartidges. But cant get more then 18 puffs out of a filledup New cartridge, then the rest of the day I have to put in 3 drops, due to the fact the mesh has pushed down in the cartridge by the atomizer and barly makes contact anymore. Any suggestions on a newer/better cartidge for the 510 then the ones i get from china filled with (what looks like a thin layer of fiberglass)????

thanks
