If its burnt its either not primed correctly or the power is to high. Most likely a priming issue. I use boge cartos exclusively and I've found filling them very full and letting them sit for a few hours is best. You can get away with shorter but you have to know what your doing. If your just starting out and want to be on the safe side be patient. Even with tons of carto priming experience I occasionally burn one when I'm in a hurry. You can fill it and fill it but unless you just let it sit for a while you run the risk of burning it. Once you get it primed right its a fantastic trouble free vape.
You shouldn't be getting burned taste if the carto is properly primed. I use the Boges immediately after priming with the condom method and drip top off and have never had a burned taste.
Punched holes allow liquid in a tank to pass into the carto filler. Because I use 50/50, I prefer the laser-slotted Boges with my IBTanked carto tanks. You wouldn't use either without a tank.
