My current eGo-C Twist batteries don't seem to be holding there charge as long any more so its time to buy a few new ones before they give up altogether or try something different.

I was browsing the forums and came across someone mentioning the 510 Box Mod kit from madvapes and thought i would give it a go so I ordered one and it should be here at some point, no idea how long stuff takes to come from US to UK.

Madvapes says it need a 14500 900 mAh battery and I need a little help finding one in the UK along with the correct charge. Seen a few on eBay but there all from China and I'm a little worried as I don't want the thing blowing up whilst charging .

From what I've read I'm best off with 14500 900 mAh Protected batteries as these are safer, Am I correct in saying that the protected ones protect against shorts and running the battery down to low, bad from what I gather for Li-ion.

I'm really excited about my first mod :) but I don't want to proceed and get the incorrect battery which may result in me hurting myself of any member of my family.

If I can get this mod built I'll be using it with my vivi mini nova with my rebuilt coils at 2.2ohms, for those who have made these kits before how long can I expect the battery to last, my current 650mah spinners used to last me a day?

So anyone that can link the correct battery and charger from UK sources I would be very much appreciated..

Been doing a little more research In the process of trying to find a charger and battery that I can use with the 510 Box Mod Kit I can across the XTAR MP1S charger and TrustFire Protected 14500 3.7V 900mAh Rechargeable Lithium Battery's.

I also came across a few horror stories about li-ion batteries exploding so I was a little nervous about buying them.

I did however come across a safer alternative, thanks to this site :) IMR Li-Mn rechargeable batteries, would something like the IMR-14500-Batteries-3-7V-V2-700mAh-Rechargeable-Li-Mn-Li-Ion-AA work in the 510 Box Mod Kit and if how long would the Li-Mn batters last in the mod?

2x Genuine Efest IMR 14500 Batteries 3.7V V2 700mAh Rechargeable Li-Mn Li-Ion AA | eBay

AW IMR High Drain Batteries | Idealvape

Also read about how you not meant to let the batteries get below a certain voltage (Discharging below 3 volts) as there's no volt meter on the 510 Box Mod kit how do i know when its getting that low?

Would something like this help?
Blue 1s LED Voltmeter

Sorry for what may seem like a silly noob questions but my safety and the safety of my family is important to me so any help you can provide would be very much appreciated.

Hi Harpz

I buy most of my parts from a UK company called Stealthvape (does box mod parts) very quick delivery normally next day if you order before 12.00pm.

As for the battery you need some thing like this 14500 3.7V 900mAh Protected Battery or google 14500 protected efest battery. Protected batteries will cut out if there is a short.

Chargers.
Chargers - PV Parts/Mods
Any of the first two listed chargers will be ok for the 14500 battery's (but you get what you pay for quality wise)

As for battery life in your box mod it should last all day as did your 650 spinners.

There are lots of reputable UK companies selling batteries that are suitable for your box mods. The above links are just suggestions for you and I am in no way affiliated with the company (just used him a few times)

Hope this helps

The links to those batteries in your post are fine.
The ones from idealvape are expensive - cheaper here AW IMR Batteries [VE342] - £7.99 : Vape Escape

Not really any need for a volt meter it depends if you are just making a simple box mod and do you have room in it?

When the battery gets low there will be a drop of in vapour produced (you will notice it)

Normally I was say "no" to those batteries but that type of box mod is old technology and it was designed to use them. The problem is it's running a pair of batteries in series and there is no fancy electronics in that box to shut down at a low voltage point. In this case you need protected cells - it's your only safety going on here - to prevent the thing from still operating when one cell drops below 3.2 volts while the other one may not have.

Xtar makes some good (safe) chargers but the MP1S is only a single battery charger - it's not adequate for your needs. Remember - to keep this box running you need two in the mod and two in the charger. A single cell charger won't be able to keep up. A much better choice would be the Xtar WPII 2 - two bay charger that won't be outgrown if you move to something that uses high capacity batteries in the future.

Thanks guys for the replies.

I went with the 510 box mod kit from madvapes for my first mod as it looked simple to build and nice and small, it also uses 1 battery, it was only after that I found all the bits on stealthvapes. Oh well.

I went with the single battery charger as the box uses one battery and I would have a spare so when the one in the box needed charging I would just swap them. Also like the fact that it charges both Li-ion and Li-mn battery's if I read it correctly.

So you think the Li-ion battery should be OK I was just concerned about the safety aspect after reading a dew horror stories. Hence why I was leaning towards the Li-mn batteries as they are safer.

With regards to protection circuitry and the volt meter are there any box kits that included this? It's been a while but I'm sure I can follow a circuit diagram.
