I'm a 3 day noob with cartomizers. I got my first blank 510 cartomizers from LiteCigs a couple of days ago. I'm very pleased with the performance but as I knew would happen the first one I started using began to degrade in performance. I've read quite a few threads about removing the plastic mouthpiece but have been unsucessful in removing this one short of destroying it.

I've hooked various sturdy metal implements through the hole and firmly prying in an attempt to remove the plug. I gave up on that and used an exacto blade to try to force a seperation between the plastic and body of the cartomizer. No joy there either. I just finished boiling it for about 10 minutes.

It's cheap, it's disposable. I can always destroy it just so I can forensically figure out my next dissection but I figured I'd ask first. Again, these cartomizers are the blanks being sold by LiteCigs. Thanks for any insight!

I also have some from them, they are the hard cap kind. I boiled water in a pan and held the carto about 3/4 of an inch into the water for about 2 minutes. Soon as I took it out I stuck the arm of a binder clip in the hole and pulled, it popped right out. The very next one I tried it with pulled the cap off but left a ring inside the carto, I had to soak/pry several times to get it out. Slow and patient is all I can suggest, they do come out.

I would think if you dropped it into boiling water for a minute and remove with hemos so you don't get burnt the cap will come off easily. Sorry CJsKee all ready helped great minds think alike;)

You're right. I posted too soon. After boiling the plastic just popped loose rather easily. The learning continues....
