First attempt at moving up in the world, from Provari with Carto, was a rba a year and a half ago - $25 and had it for one day when dropped with a Provari Mini and had to dig the existing threads out of the Provari. I know - it was cheap pressed on threads.
Second attempt was recently purchasing an American made Shotgun mod and a Japanese Vulcan rda - had it a week, rolled off a 30" high desktop onto a linoleum floor and stripped the threads off the rda. Getting by at home with wrapping the existing threads in aluminum foil for now. :>(
So now I just found an Igo-W for $11.95 that I am happy with - at least now I can afford to drop one once in a while :>)
IGO-W Plus - Kidney Puncher
The mods don't seem to be the problem, if the threads are good steel or such, because of the mass backing them up. The RDAs on the other hand are very thin where the threads are and are the first to go.
Now I have just shown that the myth is busted, "Cheap Chinese metal" is a bust because whether cheap or expensive, they break at the 510 connection just the same.
I now see why Provari is pushing ahead with their "P3" connector - time will tell if this is robust enough and whether it will catch on.
I think we all will be stuck with cheap crap until the connector issue is fixed - I for one will never again spend over $25 on an RDA for fear I may drop it...simply can't afford it.
Anybody have any stories such as this that have become frustrated with breaking your favorite RDA ?
