(Ugh sorry, forgot the word "battery" from the title)

Hello!

Right, so I bought this starter kit which should be a standard 510 kit. Along with that I also bought this extra battery. It says it's a standard 510 battery so I obviously thought that it would work perfectly well with my kit.

The battery works fine with the atomizer. However, when I try to connect it to the charger it just doesnt go deep enough, no matter how hard I try and therefore cannot be charged. I was told that I needed to mod the battery a bit, so I did, and broke it. Lol.

I just don't understand why a standard 510 battery doesnt fit a standard 510 charger? Or have I misunderstood something?

For the future reference it would be nice to know what kind of batteries to buy.

Thank you!

I think it depends where you purchase them. Someone on here bought a 510 starter kit and kept frying her batteries. Turns out the charger was reverse polarity.

I don't know anything about where you purchased your kit- the type of vendor, etc. When I purchase Joye products I've never had an issue. I have gotten cheaper batteries and had some connection issues. I guess that's why they're cheap!

Welcome anthon! I looked at both your links. I recommend not buying the single battery at 8 pounds. For 10 pounds, you can get the entire kit again, including 2 batteries and an extra charger, a much better deal. This way, you would have some backups too. :)

Edit: and the batteries that came in the kit charge fine.

Edit2: my bad, there's only 1 battery with the starter kit. If it's not a disposable as cags said, still a good deal since you get another charger and atomizer. If it is a disposable, see if you can purchase a 510 kit from http://liberty-flights.co.uk instead.

One US vendor has the nerve to call something 510 with some letters and it is not a 510. (yes I am talking to you Aquavaporcig). The fine print says it's an RN4081 (another battery with female i.e. recessed threads on the battery)

One of the things you have is not 510 or at least not a compatible 510 (the battery or the charger) and the most likely alternate thing it may be if the charger has male threads and the battery has female is RN4081 (unlikely though possible is that it's just a very poorly made 510 clone battery or charger). If your atomizer is steel and the cartridges slides over it, or if your battery was sold with a cartomizer, it is probably RN4081. If the atomizer is a visible middle piece painted like the battery and the cart sticks into it, that is 510.

And BTW - not all 510's are compatible with all 510 chargers. Some idiot manufacturer makes a reverse electrical polarity 510 that will fry in a real 510 charger and vice versa. Ditto for L88b which Blu uses - not a 510 but happens to have the same threads and is reverse electrical polarity.

Another idiot clone in Shenzen China manufacturer makes and sells clones that are not exactly thread compatible with the models they appear to be (I forget the Chinese company's name - sorry). It's like they worked from pictures or something.

My advice is Don't Buy Clones unless you know what you are buying is good quality and compatible. Joye and Janty are the only two non-clone 510 makers.

Also - good to know - the 510-T has a charger that will fry normal 510's and Egos. It is not reverse polarity - just something different about its charger.

are you sure the kit you bought is not a disposable? it looks like the disposable one I started out with and you cannot use the charger that came with it with regular batteries and you aren't supposed to charge the battery in the kit with a regular charger ..... in the picture on the website I can't read what is on the flip top of the box. mine says "the battery is at least 3 times rechargeable" does yours say that? if so, it's a disposable
