Hey all, so I read that the 510 charger will not work with the EGO. I read that the EGO will burn out or even blow up if you stick the EGO into the 510 charger. But the question I have is will the EGO charger charge both the 510 and the EGO? I'm thinking about getting and EGO and I already have the 510. I know I can't use the 510 to charge the EGO but I'm hoping the EGO will charge the 510.

After spending a bit of time researching, this is the best I could come up with, lol!

Here is a thread with a reply from Tim @ GreenhouseOne to one of our forum members:

The house of Vapors:
Do not use regular Joye 510 Battery.

American E liquid Store:
Product Description
A standard USB Charging Cable to charge your Joye 510 or eGo battery. Please choose your cable type above for the battery you have. (NOTE: The Joye 510 cable will not charge an eGo battery, nor will the eGo cable charge a Joye 510 battery.)

From Vapor Kings Site:
This is a replacement or spare USB charger for your Joye eGo e-Cigarette batteries. 420mAh output at 5 volts. This is a genuine JoyeTech product!
This is -NOT- compatible with regular JoyeTech 510 batteries - the output is too high and could damage them.

My Ecig Supply:
Attention:This kind of USB charger can't be used to charge JOYE510 batteries or it will DESTROY the batteries!

I haven't any idea why using a std 510 (wall or USB) charger would destroy an eGo, or degrade it, or have any ill effect. The 510 USB charger has a wide enough mouth that you can screw an eGo onto it without an adapter. I have done this several times without issue. Takes longer to charge, but I don't care, because I have 3 eGoXL batts. It might be worth contacting the vendor who is stating that and asking them to substantiate it. I'm not an electrical engineer, so yeah, there might be something I don't know. However, I'm dubious of any ill effect to either the charger or the battery.

Reverse situation: connecting a std. or Mega 510 batt to an eGo fast charger -- definitely bad, since the eGo charger uses a higher charging current. So you'd blow the protection circuit, or worse. Flames are a possibility.
