510 Kanger sr's

In a frantic search to know where I'll be headed after my beloved stash of Boge cartos are gone, I just got some 510 Kanger sr's for my cartotanks. I always punched 2 holes in my Boge cartos for perfect wicking. I punched 2 holes in the Kanger, and it's not wicking well. I filled the carto really well before I tried it, and it's tasting burnt, can't get a decent vape at all.

Those of you who have successfully tried Kangers in a tank, how many holes are you punching. I am using it in a kicked mod, so I know the voltage is adjusting accordingly.

Please share your experiences with 510 Kanger cartos.

I'm sorry that you have not received any responses yet. Wish I had more experience with kanger cartomizers. Are they horizontal coiled cartomizers?

Yes, Kangers are horizontal coils.

It's not about how many or how big the holes are, but rather about the placement of the holes. Try punching the carto higher up (about 2/3 the way up) so that the polyfill is more evenly saturated. That SHOULD get rid of the dry burnt taste.

Here's one thing I found out. I checked in the mirror doing some dry pulls, and the carto is wicking very well because I saw bubbles coming from the carto holes.

I switched the cartotank to a VV mod, instead of using my kicked mod(which is usually set at 10V). I usually vape a Boge sr carto around 5.7V because I like a very warm vape. That seems to be way too hot for my Kanger. I am vaping the same cartotank at around 4.8V, and it's much better, no burnt taste. It seems that I can't vape these as hot as my Boge. Surprisingly, it's very satisfying at a lower voltage. I may try punching the holes higher next time as an experiment.

BTW, when I metered my Kanger carto, I was 2.8 ohms.

Happy to hear that you have found a solution to your problem. I have also found that horizontal coiled cartomizers to not as well in tanks.

This is the reason that I have found. As you already know, with vertical coiled cartomizers. When you use them in a tank and take a drag. It forces the e-liquid to go into the cartomizer. Go upwards towards the coil. Since that is the direction of that it's being directed. Which is how carto tanks are intended to work.

With horizontal coiled cartomizers. The same action would have the opposite effect. Since some of the e-liquid is being directed away from the coil. So, it won't wick as well.

My suggestion would either be to allow more time in between drags. To let it re-wick thoroughly or punch an extra hole or two.

Thanks for the explanation. It sort of makes sense. I have found a happy place with these cartos. Although, IMHO, a good Boge carto, freshly filled is hard to top.

The draw is not quite as airy as a Boge, but still smooth and easy. Taste and vapor seem very good. The thing that surprises me is that I have to run the Kanger at about a volt lower than a Boge of the same resistance. As I said, my normal vape is with a Boge sr carto at around 5.7V. The Kanger is delivering the same taste and vapor at 4.7-4.8V. Wicking is very good. I am on my 3rd tank with this carto, and, so far, there is no decrease in performance. I am interested to see how many ml's I can get through this carto.

I have also found that I don't need to set it down to rewick. I am not patient like that when I'm vaping. When I am vaping, I like my system to work consistently without interruption. I think these could be a viable alternative to Boge cartos if they don't fix their problems.
