This works well you find? (the 510 -->901 adapter + 901 atty I mean)

It works just fine. I have the adapter and a 901 atty I use on my passthrough and sometimes on my Tornado (without the cone). I gave it a shot because I wanted to try the 901 so I ordered both the atty and adapter from mad vapes. Next up is carto's since the adapter works with the KR808-1's as well.

501->901 adapters can be used with KR808 cartos? Or is your adapter special?

Thanks

Yep I have the small adapter. It just makes the draw a "little" hard for my liking with the cone and the 901 atty. I have 3 cones though so I'm considering drilling a small vent hole into one just to experiment.

Oh, maybe that's why I like the 901 on my 510 PT better. I never even noticed a difference, but...

Are you saying that the only real solution is to have different pv's available for different types of flavors ? If that's the case, I've gotta get a second pv right away...I'm tired of not being able to fully appreciate the flavors !

All you need is different ohm ratings - which means different atomizers. Most of the flavors I like are the stronger flavors -again, Habana Reserve, Absinthe, Real Tabs, Ylang Ylang (stronger than you'd think), RY4, coffee/capp, French Pipe, Nuport. But I also like Black Currant, Peach cobbler, Blueberry crumble, Lotus flower and vanilla custard and those taste better on a 801, 901 or putting them in blank cartomizers. I have a Joye Stick V3 and a few Janty Sticks in 801.

And rather than buying a whole new kit, you could do what I did for the 901/cartos - get the 510 adapter for the 901 atty and cartos. It works just fine and the you won't suppress those lighter flavors because you're using a 'cooler vape' type atty for them. And the adapter for the 901/cartos is $1.99 at heavens gate - get a couple of 901 attys and a pack of blank cartomizers while you're there ;-)

That way you can get the best of both worlds.

  • The 510 atty has a "break-in" time - it varies, but usually 250 puffs seems average. this may vary from a few days to a week depending on usage. My attys are from 3 weeks to 2 months old.
  • 510 attys tend to burn quite a bit hotter. ModMakers® will be quick to provide references to support reasons to convert. While I have NO conflict with mod users, the reason I don't carry one (in public) always comes down to a comment by one of my customers..."that looks like a fun thing to have to explain to the arresting officer..." I take this to mean that the combo mentioned above may cause a little more attention than my plain-jane 510 does now.
  • Straw modifications will increase vapor, but not necessarily flavor strength. I'd recommend CYO kits and base liquids. Everyone's taste is different. I went through dozens of "Marlboro" flavors until I created my own golden recipe and it vapes differently between my 901, 510, 302 and cigar. CYO = Create Your Own ?
Just to clarify, I'm happy with all aspects of my 510, except the flavor. I'm especially happy with the vapor production.

  1. I usually break in an atty in 2-3 days. Most other models follow suit. Much longer than that is pretty much a lost cause.
  2. ...depends on where you go. I've seen some "vaping devices" the more resemble a three-chambered .... I saw in college than any electronic cigarette or any harm reduction device.
  3. Yes, create your own. You can buy 50ml bottles of no nic from Midwest vapor and mix in flavors until you like what you vape. Add nic to your preference later. If liquor makers could perfect their flavors without including alcohol (and all it's regulation) until the final process, what a wonderful world this would be, eh?
We began carrying only Joyetech products in February of '09 and it was a strictly business decision. Few will argues that the 510 is the workhourses of the e-cig industry. Overclocked attys aren't the solution.

Fix the juice.

When this is all over, e-liquid recipes will be the key to big jobs at corporate or U.S. Federal Flavor Labs...

I disagree. I say Joyetech needs to fix their quality control. Have you seen the problems coming out of their factories lately or are you still thinking it's "new user error"?

Sun Vaporer did testing on 10 Joye attys from different vendors and his results are alarming. What are we vaping that is causing the nickle mesh to turn blue and crumble? Nickle shouldn't change color at the temperatures needed for vaping juice.

Hmm so 901 is for lighter flavors then?
I msut admit I like em strong :) My 510 burns hot as lava when i get to vaping it and copes well lol. I do drip tho as much as possible. Prefer it.
If I get lighter flavors then 901 and stornger ones stick with 510 I think is what Im gettin from y'all. Still might give it a shot - I do like the PVs, and there are so many variations it seems.

I've sold tens of thousands of 510 kits over the past year and personally overseen customer service on all complaints. YMMV, but the vast majority of issues actually are user error. As part of the Suppliers Council, we share customer feedback and insight on these issues and see far more than an individual user would.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a poster boy for Joyetech and that's not to say that Joyetech (and all e-cig manufacturers) don't need to ramp up their QA/QC procedures. We started with 11 different models and phased down to the 510/302 line specifically because they had the least problems.

When you say "problems coming out of their factories lately" are you referring to the knock offs being produced by pirates or actually problems with the supply chain? I've always said that Made in China doesn't carry the same warm fuzzy as German Engineering, but I haven't seen any specific decrease in quality lately. Even Yeti and Titan resellers will tell you that they opted to have the 510 branded for them because of its reputation.

I know Sun very well and consider him a very good friend (he and I were two of the three founders of CASAA) but I'm sure he'd agree that NO currently manufactured e-cig products would fare well if the spotlight were placed directly on them. Personally, I am far more concerned with the fact that liquid manufacturers can put anything in a plastic bottle and sell it.

That said, I am certainly not so asinine as to assume I know everything about electronic cigarettes or even the 510 itself. If you have any specifics you can share I am more than open to having my opinion changed by a well supported argument. If you want to push for a change, cite specifics and I'll share them with other resellers. Maybe a group push that threatens the manufacturers bottom line will make a difference. ;)

Thank you, Webby. Below is an excerpt from Sun Vaporer's report.

"...Upon disassembly of two of the four atomizers, I found the coils to be in tack and the fiberglass wick to have no discoloration. I removed the mesh, as I have done on so many other atomizers to find that the nickel mesh had a tinged blue and grey color and a slight burnt smell that also crumpled in upon manipulation. The mesh in most atomizers has no smell or discoloration and does not fall apart or crumple like this mesh.

With another of the four atomizers, I removed the nickel mesh bridge and drip smoked the atomizer with the coil in tact only to still have this foul taste. The taste would not dissipate even with removal of the visible wicking bridge. I can conclude that this removal of the bridge did not work simply because the metal wicking also goes under and around the visible part of the coil and can only be removed when the entire atomizer is disassembled.

I then disassembled one of the atomizers that did not emit any foul taste of the ten that I purchased only to find that there was no discoloration, smell, or crumpling of the nickel metal wicking material..." More

I've spoken with several suppliers that are concerned by the number of complaints they are getting about these attys. I know that some are talking and trying to get Joye to respond. As of now Joye maintains that there has been no change in their manufacturing process and that it is "user error".

A few of us have been fielding many PMs asking us what they can do or saying that they gave up on vaping because of this problem. Even Sun Vaporer said that it's the largest manufacturer's defect every seen by this forum.

I appreciate your sincerity and hope we can find a solution.

The only time I ever really have gotten into trouble in my life is when I acted like I knew something I didn't. This is news to me and thanks for letting me know. I've been landlocked with CASAA business lately and hadn't heard.

I don't have a bat-phone to Joyetech, but they do reply to my email. Let me check into this further and I'll post what they have to say.

Thanks,
Michal
