Wondering basically if these are normal and/or related;

1) Refilled my first prefilled cart twice - first time everything seemed normal at first, but started to taste a bit metallic later. Topped off again, but was metallic and bitter from the get-go again.

2) Noticed this morning that the mouthpiece/cart has a ring of... what appears at least possibly to be missing paint, a tiny fraction of an inch from the edge facing me (not the atty side). The color of the unit overall is black, the apparent undercoat/material underneath seems to be a dirty bronze color (but is not consistent).

3) Switched to a different atty AND different cartridge - as would be expected, no metallic taste (other than the battery, it's a completely different unit, but it does eliminate the "it's in my mouth" hypothesis. Doesn't eliminate the "it's in my head" hypothesis entirely, of course.)

Switching the units (using new cart/old atty, and old cart/new atty) appears to reveal the problem to be the atty, rather than the cart, at least from a couple casual puffs. Still, the "missing paint" issue concerns me a bit, so;

a) Likely cause? If it is the atty, is it time to clean it out already after two days?
b) Should I be concerned about the mouthpiece issue? Is this normal / has anyone else experienced it before?

Ok. Now I feel a bit dumb (there are no stupid questions; only stupid people :D) The discoloration must have been bits of... erm... me. Or rather skin/saliva/some combination thereof. Assured that they were indeed plastic, I tried scraping.. and popped the entire piece off, where the apparently, erm, organic.. material was wedged in the tiny crevice.

Ok, paint is no longer an issue anyway (I was afraid to scrape before for fear it was paint, and doing so would simply dislodge more)

Ok, let me recap (and good luck with the update; Windows 7, Vista or XP? I've been hearing horror about 7 recently...)

New, moist prefilled cart + new atty = ok
Old, topped off x3 cart, slightly dry + new atty = good
Old, topped off x3 cart, slightly dry + old atty = burnt
New, moist prefilled + old atty = burnt

No fibers visible in the atty. Atty is about 3 days "old" (counting from first use), and is the only one until today I'd been using.

The primer itself is stuck to the atty. When you first start vaping is usually taste bad. You mentioned it was an older atty. That, the newer one tasted better. The older atty could still have 'some' primer on it.

I'd blow it out. If that doesn't work try a quick 'dry burn'. I don't recommend dry burns not even for a couple of seconds. But it is the next step.

I'll be back within twenty minutes...bye.
