510 Passthrough Question

I have a Joye 510 - I notice that some passthroughs for e-cigarettes come with out a battery and the 510 comes with a battery. What is the purpose of the battery? Will it work if I take out the battery? Sorry...I am not too techi and was wondering the purpose the battery on the passthrough.

No it wornt work without the battery. The battery serves as a backup power supply when you remove it from the computer and acts as a voltage regulator while hooked up so you dont fry your computers port or the atomizer
