I've yet to burn out an atty, and only managed to run one down to null vapor. I have however gone through 10 attys thus far. I keep the lost ones in a jar so may recover them.

The issue I have found is that after approx 6 days the filler begins to get quite discolored, black or brown around the point where the atty touches. When blowing out the liquid in the atty it comes our a dark b lack color.

Is this normal behavior for a functional attomizer or is this a sign that the atty is dead or filthy? Is there a proper way to clean this? I have attempted the crest pro method on four of these and they would not work at all afterwards

When this discoloration occurs the flavor and flavor contiue to work fine. It seems to me that I should not be using it in this condition which is why I have 4 score of new attys on the shelf. I would like to extend my use without forgoing saftey.

Thought?

Foe--from what I am reading here, your problem seems to be coming from the polyester core of the cartridge. That core can and will discolor with use. You can easily take it out of the cartridge with a tweezer and rinse it clean under hot water. After it is dry, you simply re-insert the core into the cartridge and refill with e-liquid.

As for saftey concerns, many Members have found that the polyester core fibers can get on the coil and believe that using an alternative such as tea bags as a core is safer. (Credit of the tea bag method to Stubborn Pete who I have not scene in a while).

Others, such as myself simply do not use a core at all and drip the e-liquid directly onto the atomizer. After doing this now for many months I can say that I have found no shorter lifespan of the atomizer and a much better hit.

Check out the Cartridge Mods section as well for other fillers Members are trying. If you just what to stay with the polyester, go to Walmart or any fabric store and purchase a bag of 20 ounce polyester batting. For 7 dollars you can replace your cores in the cartidges for over a year or more.

Hope that helps.
