510 standard LED

Is the LED in a standard 510 battery something I can change myself without much hassle? I decided I'd prefer a different color.

They are really small LED's. So i think most folks would say it would be a hassle unless they have worked with small SMD components before. Even then one might just go and buy a battery with the LED color they liked.

I work in a PCB factory in the Surface Mount area. I think I can handle SMD's down to an 0402 size. It's more the 'getting to it' that I'm wondering about.

Little plastic cap snaps off.

Sometimes by accident.

Looks like an 0402 size, with a 360 ohm resistor in the circuit. A bit too much work for the way the micro pcb is put together. Maybe if the led and resistor were perpendicular to the wire connections, but as is there is no workspace for my cheap iron.

Oh, does anyone know if the led is wired parallel or series to the battery activation? I don't want to kill my battery if I DO mess with it and damage the LED circuit.

Separate control line. Allows flashing codes without atty activation. E-cig can live without it.
