Edit - sorry, meant 510-t vs...

So I'm getting ready to order some new 510 attys, and just now reading about the eGo-t and 510-t (I've been away from e-cigs for a while). I may be daft, but after reading a bit I'm having trouble tying it all together.

The main thing that piqued my interest in the tanks was that apparently it's easier to switch flavors... something to do with the spike going up into the tank cart. Is that true? Does the wick/atomizer not get saturated like standard 510 attys? Getting old flavor out of an atty was a challenge last time, and since I need to order all new juice, I may be trying more flavors than I have atomizers.

I noticed heaven-gifts was selling their 510-t kits with the regular 510 batteries. Do the 510-t batteries simply provide longer life, or do they heat the element hotter than the regular 510s.

Having said all that, I guess the questions are:

1) Is it easier/faster to change flavors with 510-t atomizers/tanks vs. 510 attys?

2) Is there any downside to using regular 510 batteries with 510-t atomizers and tanks?

3) I notice the 510-t batteries are automatic only. Have auto batteries gotten better over the past 2 years. I much preferred manual batteries to "prime" the element before taking a pull.

Thanks.

I just got mine today (both 510-T and eGo-T), so I'm not the best source. I gave it a couple of hours, and since no one else is responding, I thought I'd throw out my two Lincolns...

A 510-T atomizer is similar to any other 510 atomizer, except the wicking is accomplished in a slightly different way, and it has a prong to punch holes in the bottom of the tanks. Because it works in roughly the same way, ANY 510 battery will work with a 510-T atomizer. You need not replace your batteries to use them, as they will work on any 510 threaded battery (or other battery with an adapter) PROVIDED YOU DON'T GET A LOW-RESISTANCE VARIANT (any low resistance atomizer will require a battery with more horsepower, so to speak, like an eGo or a mod). If you have 510 batteries, you can just get the 510-T atties and save yourself a few bucks. The 510-T kits they're selling are just 510 kits with tanks instead of standard atties.

As far as physically changing flavors, the 510-T makes it pretty easy. However, just like with any other atomizer, you're going to have some of the old fluid that has already been wicked into the coil (unless you ran it dry). The first few vapes will taste like the old flavor or a combination of the two. Also, some stronger flavors may get "stuck" in the atomizer. It's pretty easy to clean a tank, but the atomizer is no easier (or more difficult) than cleaning any other atomizer.

I've yet to find a flavor strong enough that I can't vape through it, though sometimes it might take a couple of days...

The eGo batteries are awesome, and I'd totally recommend them. They're my go-to recommendation for beginners because they are so versatile and long lasting. As far as what works with them, there's really no difference... an eGo battery is an eGo battery, though there are some differences in how long they last (mAh rating, higher is better), whether they give you the option to be used as a USB passthru, and manufacturer (there's some debate as to whether there's a difference here).

With an eGo battery, you can use any of the 510 atomizer options as well as the eGo options (the eGo-T, for example). With standard 510 batteries, you can not use the eGo atomizers. An adapter is available, but it's recommended for mods, not standard batteries.

I hope I was able to answer most of your questions... I hate to see one go unanswered! Perhaps someone with a little more experience can better explain this.

I see you're in Raleigh... Good to see more vapers in the area!

I don't have first-hand experience with standard 510 atties. That said, one of the things I love about the 510-T setup is that the switchover between flavours is reasonably quick. 3-5 drags usually does the trick with PG. YMMV with VG though - I've had things get "stuck" in there - even running blank juice through didn't help. A good cleaning in the ultrasonic cleaner (there's a thread about that somewhere around here) sets it right, though, so it's all good. I've seen similar behaviour with the eGO-T atties, FWIW.

The batteries in the 510-T are larger (longer) than the standard ones, and are 280mah. Using the standard batteries will result in shorter lifespans, and I seem to recall reading somewhere that there is a non-zero chance of atty damage along the way. I'm mildly annoyed at the battery life even with the "big" batteries. *sigh* That's what the USB PT is for..

Alternating between my eGO-T and my 510-T, I was (also) mildly annoyed at the difference in draw technique between manual and automatic batteries. The 280mah batteries do come in manual, but they don't seem to be in many of the kits I've seen. You can get them at Cignot. They're listed under 510 batteries (as opposed to under the 510-T section), so they were easy to miss for a couple of weeks  I very much prefer to have the pre-draw pre-heat control that the manual has. The auto's are okay, but they're just like their automotive counterparts - the level of control is very useful to doing it "right".

Hope this helps..

Fake Edit: Looks like this the NC vaper's thread... :)

Easiest way I've found of switching flavors in any atty, tank, or carto is to vape a bit of unflavored juice, at least until it tastes "unflavored". :)

Regarding the auto-batteries, the switches are reported to be better, but the charge life of the small 510 batteries are still the main problem. 510 anf 510-t batteries are the same, ego are the big brothers, last a day for many vapers. I've used manual batteries since I graduated from my first PV (M401), and as you point out the pre-heat helps a lot in getting a good draw.

Do yourself a favor and get THIS and some of THESE. Why, you may inquire? Check HERE, HERE and HERE.

Tanks may be awesome in warfare. But if you want a great vape and flavor for eGo batts, just get what I suggest above . If you're not happy with the eMDCCs, I'll make an offer I've made before... I'll buy your eMDCCs for 50% of what you paid!

I'm not here to sell ... I'm here out of gratitude for all the ECF info garnered here that led me to quitting cigs after 45years of 2 PaD. I have NO financial intere$t in what I recommend. It's my personal quest to promote the best vape for the lea$t buck$.

A lot of people love those... I'm personally not a fan of cartos, but that's just me. They seem a bit inconsistent. They're great when they're really full, but drop off quickly. If I have to keep them topped up all the time, I might as well drip (which is definitely the best way to go for vapor and flavor).

I like that the tanks don't leak (CE2s, G4s), and they don't have the wicking problems of cartridges. I've yet to find a cartridge mod that works for me...

I've only had my tanks for a few hours, and there may be drawbacks coming that haven't made themselves obvious yet, but I'm liking them so far... Then again, I liked the G4s in the beginning too...

I've seen 510-T kits around in manual

If you already have 510 manual batteries, you don't even need to buy a 510-T - just go to Cignot or elsewhere and but a 510-T atomizer, some tanks to try, and an appropriate syringe for filling them through the hole poked by the tank atty

What keeps flavors really separate? Cartomizers. Boge standard resistance cartomizers are the most popular cartomizers for slim 510. Fatter 510's like Ego and Riva 510 amd mods can also use the hotter LR Boge cartos.
