Is there any difference between 510 batteries and 510-T batteries? I know the T refers to tank, as in the cartridge, but I was wondering if the batteries are any different. I've read that the 510-T charger should not be used with regular 510 batteries, and that a regular charger won't properly charge a 510-T battery. This makes me think there might be a difference, and if this has any effect on which parts you could use with the 510-T battery.

The auto 510-T batteries are different - slightly longer charge and a charging cable that can kill/fry/melt all other 510-threaded batteries.

Most people here use and recommend manuals. Especially with 510 since the manuals are fully sealed metal on the threaded end - no way to damage or kill them with juice vs autos which are the easiest to damage/kill with juice. And manuals make it easy to get a good drag/hit every time - you press the button in 1-2 seconds early and when you start dragging there is already nice vapor waiting.

Either T on non-T batteries can use all standard resistance (2.5 to 3 ohm) 510-threaded stuff. Both can use 510-T tank atomizer and 510-T tanks, both can use normal atomizer and cartridges, only manuals can use normal atomizer + drip tip, both can use cartomizers (which are what most prefer for everyday vaping and the most popular cartos are Boge 3 ohm)

Thank you, that was really helpful. I will probably buy a manual battery soon, just thought an auto might be a little simpler for a noob to use. My boyfriend is also interested in vaping, and he's a tried a manual battery once but didn't really care for it, so I figured buy the autos to start and if I don't like them I can pass them off to him and get myself a manual.

Just remember - if you bought the 510-T charger never charge any batteries but auto 510-T in it.

And just in case you have some other 510 threaded charger, never charge any 510 in the charging cables of Blu, FS510, Trio, Volcano's Volcano model (all reverse polarity and will fry/melt real 510's. And never charge 510's in the fast-charger cables for the fat Ego-style batteries (too many milliamps mA output and will damage slim batteries ruining their ability to hold charge)

I am new myself with just over a week free of tobacco (loving every breath) and have never used the autos because reading here it did not sound like the way to go. I wanted to say though that I do believe there is still loads of room for improvement and tech may change. I believe eventually there will be an auto that just works but for now the consensus seems to be the manuals are the way to go and once you get the technique down it is kind of like driving a stick shift and you just do it without thinking.

Currently vaping and eGo 900 T with Tangerine mixed up with 50/50 PG/VG 25ml nic and 20% flavor from onestopdiyshop and loving life. Just a little studying here and you will find the places to get the ingredients and a little trail of different equipment and you will find what works for you. The one thing I would say about the switch to vaping is it might cost a little in the beginning but it will save not only $ in the long run but also your lungs which might not only make your life longer but also make each day better.

Congrats on kicking the smoke and best wishes on a great life.

I know this thread is from last month, but just wanted to say for those who hate buttons, think a noob might take better to a no-button system, or sometimes just want to hold something like a regular cig -- that I have had great luck with the Joyetech XL auto battery, rated at a decent 340mah. My friend, who is a light smoker, loves hers, has no desire for anything else; I'm a former hard-core smoker and heavy vaper who enjoys switching from these to other units, and I like them for public use. We each got two black 510-T starter sets with a total of 4 batteries, through MyFreedomSmokes.com, 3 months ago. They still sell the batteries by themselves; not fond of the purple lights at the end, but have never had a problem with them. They put out a lot of vapor, with decent battery life. The 510-T atomizers have not ever leaked on us, so battery damage has not been an issue. If you were to use cartos on them, then leakage might be a problem. There are XL tanks available elsewhere that hold more liquid. I also use mine a lot for testing out new DIY juices as it only takes a few seconds to remove all the liquid in the tank with a syringe, and fill it up with a new concoction, flavor changes quickly with small 510-T atomizer.
