Since the problems is with both of my Reos, and other mods, I assume it's the atty.

I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with threading any atties on their Reos, or other mods. I have one type of atty that doesn't want to play on my Reos or other mods. They will screw onto one of my egos, but I believe that one has soft threads (hope I didn't screw it up). I've noticed that the 510 receptacles my Reos & mod seem to be made of a pretty tough steel, and I'm assuming their tolerances are tighter than some bulk-manucatured cheap 510 PVs.

And this isn't an issue with it not screwing in far enough, the threads don't even want to start. I'm hoping I just had a bad batch. When I finally got one of the Bauways to work, it hit really well. I have had no problems getting any of the dozens of other atties & cartos to work with my Reo, though I have had fun trying...

So...

  • Are there any 510 atties or cartos you've have problems with fastening to a Reo?
  • Any atties to avoid, for this reason?

Again, hoping I just had a bad batch...

Occasionally the threads on attys are a little out of wack. I had a couple of 801s that wouldn't screw into a couple of 801 pen style batteries but would with others. After some use, on the other batteries, over time, I was able to get them to screw into the ones they would not go all the way on initially. So I assume the threads on attys reshaped a bit with use.

I have seen this question before about different atty/carto (And different PVs). People have suggested using something like a dental pick to use at the beginning of the thread on atty and even other areas to clean out little malformations in the threads. Sometimes it is getting the atty to initially start screwing on and on others it stops screwing on after starting. The 801s, I had issues with, would start but not screw all the way. They were SLB.

Hope this helps some.

I just got a cisco 1.8ohm 510 atomizer that had difficulty screwing into my Mini. I ended up forcing it in, then backing it out, wiping the threads on both the atomizer and the mini with just a plain, dry paper towel (got a lot of black stuff from the atomizer threads -- I probably should've cleaned that first :) ), and then re-threading was easy.

I also got a couple of 2.0ohm atties in the same shipment, but I'm enjoying the 1.8 enough that I haven't even tried them yet.

One of the Cisco 510 LR 1.5 attys I got in the last batch I ordered won't start. I'm just going to pick up a die for the threads of the atomizers so I can run them thru it and clean up any imperfections with the threads. It doesn't cost much for a die and I'm sure I will need it with other attys in the future. First I have to find out what thread size the 510 and 306 is. Anybody know?
